Sluff was admitted into the hospital at about 11:45pm Central time. They are trying to stabilize his blood pressure and blood sugar levels. Sluff got a headache at about 10:00am which gradually worsened and escalated to the point where Sluff couldn't lessen the pain by resting his head on a pillow. After I got out of work we went to the ER where we spent about four hours waiting to hear from the VERY slow doctors. Once we were informed of the results of whatever tests they did, they admitted him and he is there now. I don't have a phone number yet, but, as soon as I get more info, I will be back to post it in this thread.
Thank You,
Patton

FANTASTIC!!!!! feel much, much better soon! :cuddle;
-
Thanks for all the well wishes, prayers and great comments. I am much better now. They had to add another med to my blood pressure meds that I already take. I think all the moving of a lot of heavy items during my move added to the blood pressure spiking. The move is now over as of Sunday. So it's back to the normal routine.
Thanks again. I missed you all.
:grouphug;
-
I thought about calling him but if all of us did, he would not get any rest. Get well, big boy.
-
Sluff, I can't take any more stress! You in the hospital, well, not what I wanted to hear. Please get some rest, take care of yourself, and stop doing so much --- at least for a few days. We worry about you. You are the glue that holds us all together. We love you and need you well. :grouphug;

Just now saw this and am so glad you are feeling better. :cuddle; Docs are trying to get mom's blood pressure down. She is on bp meds too. Would you tell me what ones you are on - the one they added?

I never started yet because I have a Doctors appointment tomorrow. I will let you know then.
-
Hope the appointment goes well. Saying prayers for you :cuddle;

My BP was 172/88 today so they added Metoprolol 50mg 2x a day. in addition to the Lotrel 10/40 once a day. Labs again in 2 weeks. Haven't seen the Neph yet until next Tuesday. I think this metoprolol is generic for lopressor.
-
Hi Sluff, Good luck at your appt. I take metoprolol 100mg also along with lisinopril 20mg minoxidil 10mg and clonidine 0.2mg with all them I get to dialysis and when they take my BP it is always above 170 then when I get close to my dry weight it gets below 100 go figure. Four heart pills and no better then 170 something is not right...Boxman
-
I'm always late to the show! I'm sorry I didn't see earlier that you've been sick. I'm glad you're better though. Take care of yourself. We need you!
-
Hey Sluff. Sorry to hear you haven't been well. Glad to hear you are on the mend. Blood pressure is a bugger to keep under control. I had my BP meds increased a month ago and then started doing more walking and reduced my salt intake and I have now dropped the additional med as my blood pressure dropped to an acceptable level. Let us know how you go with your neph. xxx
-
Kidney function is still good but my Protein loss is up to 13000. I'm not sure what unit of measure that is ( 13 g)but They added Benicar HCT to the BP meds. because the protein loss is at it's highest in 2 1/2 years.
-
I will keep him in my prayers!
-
Sluff,
I take 40 mg of Benicar plus 240 mg of Verapimal everyday.
My point is, you will like the Benicar. That High Blood Pressure med finally brought down my blood pressure consistently and I also have far fewer migraines too.
Good luck
-
Hey Sluff-
You should ask your doctor about taking Tekturna (sp?). It is supposed to be the new "wonder" drug for lowering protein spill.
Since my diagnosis of FSGS, I have not had tremendously high protein spill (3g) compared to most with this disease, but it has been very hard to keep my BP down and my creatinine. I have been maxed out on most of my BP meds and then they added Zebeta and it did the trick. One of my new nephs tried to take me off of the Zebeta and replace that w/ tekturna, but my BP went up as well as my heart rate....so, back to the Zebeta for me.
Let us know how the new meds work, because they are always looking for ways to keep my BP down...lol.
-
Thanks for all the information. I guess I'm waiting a few weeks to see how the meds will affect my BP.
-
Sluff, sorry to have missed this ... glad you are home now. Hope they get everything evern out for you soon. How do people send cards? How do you see one's address? Only special people with Jedi tricks?
-

I have been out for awhile now. Still having BP problems even with all the meds I'm on. This morning was 224/124. I think I need to see if my BP machine is working properly. Usually when it's this high I would have a bad headache and probably be in the hospital.
-
Holy cow Sluff!! You probably should be seen. I used to think that my BP machine was wacked too, so I took it into the docs office and compared readings with their machine. It was right, but luckily I have never been that high. BTW, can you tell when your BP is elevated, in general? The docs always say that you can't tell, but I sure can. I feel like I am under pressure and ready to blow....best that I can describe it.

Ditto to that. Very scary Sluff. Please take good care.

I usually get severe headaches. That's pretty much it. I have an appointment for thursday 8:20am.
I'll still come to Vegas as long as I am able to. I wouldn't miss Vegas for anything.
-
Before my doctor found the right combinations of BP meds for me (Lotensin 20 mg qd and Norvasc 5 mg qd) I would take my BP at the local Supermarket by the pharmacy. Everytime I would sit and do my BP the machine would Error or shut off. I never really felt bad, though. I could only hear my heart beating in my ears when I lied down. Never got the headaches and such.
I hope your appointment goes well!
-
Forgot to mention-
A few posts back I was telling you about Tekturna and its supposed protein lowering abilities, as well as BP.....well, found out today that it lowered a friends from 7g to 1g in 90 days.
Sudden elevation in BP is what brought on my diagnosis of fsgs. I was already on 2 BP meds and it was still like 180/ 75. I am on around 5 meds now and sometimes I am still 145-160. With that being so out of whack, is what lead to my quick decline to stage 4.
I hope you get it under control quickly Sluff :)

Kellyt- I thought that I was the only one to have that problem, although mine was constant, whether lying or standing. I have never had anything to bother me as much as that. I can take my pulse without ever touching an arm, I just listen. It is exhausting to say the least! The only drug that saved me from that is Zebeta and I will never trade it for anything..lol.
Zebeta 2.5mg
lisinopril 80mg
Hyzaar 100mg This is just what I take for BP and it still runs above what they would like.
Cardizem CD 360mg
Tekturna 150 mg.
Lovaza (fish oil) 4 huge capsules
-
Yeah, I too found it very annoying. I didin't know it was my BP until I mentioned it to my doc. For the last year or more my BP has been really good! I mean like 96/76 and thereabouts. And that's usually before I take my meds in the a.m. I sometimes don't even take my Norvasc. However, if I ever do hear my hearbeat when I lay down I know I need to adjust something or talk to my doc.
-
Sluff, please take care. Have you talked to your doctor this week about your bp? I wish I could help. :cuddle;
-
Thursday at 8:20 am I will.
-
:grouphug;

I am optimistic that they will get it straight for you Sluff.

Waiting to hear some good news. How did the doctor's appointment go? :grouphug;
-
Thinking about you, Sluff. :cuddle;

Hoping to hear good news today. High BP is really not something to mess with when you're working with poor kidney function. It seems to exacerbate the problems!

-
Hope all is good!
-
:waving; False Alarm! :waving; Everything is going the right direction. BS are finally below 200 consistently and increasing my Lantus. BP was 162/80 so that is headed in the right direction also. The high readings must have been the machine I was using. I spent $50.00 today and bought a new one. Thanks for everyone's concern and the advice but you can relax in knowing things are improving. :)
-
Keep it up Mr. Sluff - we want you around for a long, long time. :cheer:
-
sluff :bunny: so glad to hear that. :clap;
-
:grouphug; :grouphug; I am soooooo glad :2thumbsup; It is about time things started going in the right direction. :yahoo; Now you can go to Vegas without the stress of your BP and BS. Two weeks!

Great news! :yahoo;
