Title: G'day from Sandgroper
Post by: sandgroper on February 23, 2008, 10:09:33 PM
You're saying to yourself not another Aussie :ausflag;

Now for my story, I am 38 yrs of age, I was diagnosed with kidney failure about a month ago, at last count I have 13% kidney function, unfortunately my diabetes doctor failed to notify me of my kidney function despite me complaining of symptoms for the past few years. I am still in a depressed state of mind although I have come to accept that I will be on dialysis in a few weeks.

For the past few weeks I have read many posts on IHD and have gathered much confidence to tackle my problems.

Take care.
Craig

We will be here every step of the way as you make that scary transition. The more you learn here will make the transition much easier. Hope to see you in the forums.

Welcome to our community!  :grouphug; And a special welcome from a fellow Commonwealth citizen!  We always have space for another Aussie, except when they are beating the Windies at cricket!!
You are a very fortunate person.  This website is just the place for anyone just before they start dialysis.  I know, because it made a whole difference in my handling of it.  So read as much as you can, especially some of the old posts in Frequently Asked Questions.  then ask some of your own.  This site has become a sharing, caring, loving family, so there are people just waiting to  help you along.  so take advantage of all this site has to offer.

G'day Craig and welcome from a fellow aussie...

It's pretty tough finding out you only have a few weeks till you have to get on the blasted machine... that's very sucky.. I hope it's longer (13% function is a bit higher than the usual starting level, but it's all up to your symptoms - if you feel like crap, throwing up etc then you need dialysis.. if you are feeling more normal they may hold off).

This is a good community for support so hope to see you around on here.... remember there are no dumb questions...

As for the lovely IHD females... listen buddy I have been "on the list" longer... so I have priority!! :D :D :D :D :D

Apologies for not posting on here for quite a while due to ill health (not associated with kidney failure) however I have regularly visited to read other members post....alas I nearly survived a year without dialysis but will be starting in the next few weeks as I my creatinine level has shot up since the new year  :'(

 :welcomesign; Craig

Glad you made it another year without dialysis.  Hang in there maybe you will luck out again for a little while.

Hope you researched some information in the last year so you are more ready if that is possible.

Best wishes  :bestwishes;

Normie

 :boxing;  to that doctor---sure hope you did get a new one.  It is terrible not to tell a patient about their condition.
