I was coming into work today and we have to cross a very dangerous causeway to get to the town where I work and it was white out conditions and to make a long story short we were involved in a 20 car pileup :'(
Hubbie and I are ok , car is toast (I think)
Here is a pic of the causeway ( this is summer, where there is water in this pic, there was snow today

What a lovely road to have to take on a daily basis in any bad weather situation. I hope you both are still feeling ok tomarrow if your car is in that bad of shape. Sometimes it takes a day or two for it to kick in. Good luck with either getting your car repaired or finding a new one whichever the case may be.
-
It's great to hear that you are OK. I am sure that someone has already said that the "car can be replaced" but it is true . The number one thing is that you are still with us. Keep us up to date on how things turn out.
-
Yikes! Glad you made it home in one piece, even if the car didn't!
-
Glad no one was hurt.
-
Good to hear you and your hubby were not hurt.
-
I'm also glad you are okay. If I saw that picture, without your explanation, I would immediately assume it was photoshopped - I find it hard to believe such a dangerous road could be so regularly used - the very sight of it makes me shudder!
-
Good to know that your both are OK sounds like you were very lucky .
-
Wow, I am glad you are ok.
-
Glad you're fine, sorry about the car ... I have a question.
A twenty car pile-up! How does insurance (blame) sort out? I've heard of pile-ups involving hundreds of cars and I've wondered- is it all the fault of the first car or is each collision looked at separately? Or is it each driver for themselves - a no fault situation?
-
The feeling of relief is great! Glad you are still with us. What a picture! It reminds me of a dream I had recently, only I was in a boat!
-
Good question, re the insurance. I was once in a 4-car pile up and I thought that was bad.
-
Whew, looks like you and hubby averted what could have been very serious! The picture sure explains a lot! Suppose you will be terribly sore for the next few days, so best take it easy, if you can. Certainly glad you weren't badly hurt!
-
That is one wild looking road I cannot imagaine it in snow! I am so glad you all are okay. I hope you get the car stuff sorted out soon.
-
Nasty looking stretch of road. Glad to hear you are ok.
-
Glad you guys are OK too. How about that pic....did you shoot that?
-
Glad to hear your OK Kim you are not having a very good run at the moment, but it will get better. Maz
-
:o Thats quite a stretch of road! I am glad you are both O.K. :cuddle;
-
Thanks everyone for the concern, first off no George I didn't shoot the pic, it was taken from the Coast Guard building at the bridge side .

I am not to sure yet , I have to call my insurance guy back today, the RCMP didn't want to know the details about who hit who, he just wanted to get us all off the dang thing.
Here is a picture of what it is like when all hell isn't breaking loose (I didn't take this picture either)

What that picture looks like to me is that you drive across a breakway every day. No wonder the road conditions are horrid. Must be slick as snot on a doorknob during the winter too since you are surrounded by water, anything on the road would freeze.
-
Whoa, what a nasty way to start the day! I am so glad you & your hubby are OK - be especially good to yourselves this evening - just lay low and let this day pass!
-
Hi KimCanada, i know it has been a couple of days now but i am just letting you know that i am glad you and hubby are doing well. I cannot believe that the second picture you posted is the same place as the first, what a difference. But it looks like an absolute beautiful drive. Good luck with the car and the insurance and all, keep us posted please... :thumbup;

Here is that stretch of road today, the road was closed today because of weather, but another 4 car pile up just happened also, this is insanity :-\
-
Is it common to have weather like that? That looks hella scarey, I am just so glad you are ok, any word on your car yet? ???
-
One side of the causeway is ice and the other side is water (not frozen) and now with the March winds all the snow that fell on the ice all winter blows like crazy. There should be a wind fence up and that would cure it, but we are a VERY popular tourest destination, and wind fences are ugly , blah blah blah. The causeway is reduced to one lane escorted traffic today so I am not going to my dialysis, I can't bare to cross it so soon after the accident on such a bad day.
My car is a total right? write? off and one piece of great news is that my car insurance had a clause in is that stated that I get what I paid for the car.. as in what it states on my receipt, I didn't even know of such a thing, so money wise it will be OK :)

Wow, Kimcanada, congrats on your excellent insurance coverage!
As for wind fences being ugly, they're not as ugly as wreck victims strewn all over the road!
I can't imagine having to deal with driving conditions like those you routinely endure! My trips are long (and slow), but except for lots of wacky cabdriver maneuvering, lots of tourists wandering across the road in Georgetown, and the occasional driver's rage (others, mostly, not so much mine!), my commute is a peaceful one. You certainly have my sympathy and good wishes for safe passage!

Well there is something good in everything. You get a new car. No-one hurt I'd say you came out of this pretty good.
One lane of traffic is safer than two. Get your butt to dialysis. ;) :thumbup;
-
My gosh! I am so glad you are okay!! That's a scary thing to go through! I'm just glad your car is covered fully,
at least you can get a new(er) car now, if need be!! :grouphug;
-
Wow, I thought the other picture made the road conditions look bad. I would hate to have to take such a treacherous road everyday. At least you had some really good insurance coverage and should be able to easily replace your car. What insurance company do you use again?
-
My insurance company is Dominion Of Canada they were awesome

Crap, I guess I wont be switching insurance companies. lol
-
That was one hell of a road you showed in that picture. I would not cross it either in ice and snow. Geez!
-
Kim, where is that looks like a levee road Boxman55
-
Well...
Its a causeway that joins Nova Scotia to Cape Breton, Cape Breton is part of Nova Scotia legally but not to the people around here. There was a ferry but it was replaced in 1955, there has been many accidents since mine, this is the worst winter in a long time.
-
Have you gotten a new car yet Kim? :2thumbsup;
