Every time I go to the bathroom I wonder how long it will be until I stop going. I was just wondering how many still go and how long it took the others to stop? Funny topic, huh? ;D

I stopped after 3 years on PD. I haven't peed now for the last 3 years.

Here's another tread on this subject: http://ihatedialysis.com/forum/index.php?topic=1006.0 But good idea creating a thread with a POLL. We needed a poll for this subject. :thumbup;

yes, yes, yes! which means i get to drink more!!!!!!!
-
Mine came to a HALT after they did my heart catheter. That dye is hard on the kidneys and I could not drink all the water the other patients were getting to flush the dye out.
-
Yes i still go , 2 yrs on capd, mostly every other hour during the night :-\ I have often wondered though when/if you do stop , do you still feel like you want to go and nothing happens?
-
I still go, I have been on hemo for a month and a half, but it has slowed to a trickle :-\
I blame it on the fact that I drink so little
I don't like this part of KD

Hubby peed when he was on PD but when he stared hemo it stopped completely.
-
I still do maybe once a day sometimes twice. I will try to go right before dialysis I weighed myself before and after going and dropped 0.1 It all helps-Boxman55
-
Well i have been on dialysis nearly 3 years and i go to the bathroom at least everyone 1 to 2 hours! which is great most the time, but it is very annoying having to recirculate 2-3 times while on dialysis to go wee!
-
It has slowed own to almost nothing over the last two years, after eight years on dialysis.
-
my husband has no kidneys-no pee...however he did get about 6 drops a month ago-with no kidneys in his body we wondered where it came from? LOL and it was just the one time-I was hoping he was a miracle and grew another kidney!! Oh if you all only could.. ;)
-
yes....I do....6 months in hemo.
-
While I was on dialysis for 2 1/2 years I peed very little, maybe a teaspoon a day.. on a good day maybe a tablespoon.
-
It stopped shortly after starting dialysis.
-
While I was on PD, I went daily, although not as much as normal. (about 5 1/2 years) On hemo, it droped to maybe a teaspoon over a weekend, after 6 months. I'm been on hemo over a year 1/2.
-
So it seems that if you are on hemo, then you stop peeing sooner than those on PD.
I've only been on PD for 9 months, and I still go just as much as before I started dialysis.

I don't think that is the case, I believe it has to do with the persons level of CKD. However I may be wrong, but I am sure in this thread we will find the correct answer. :thumbup;

I've been on haemo a few years now, but find that my urination levels change.
Sometimes its a few drops, sometimes it like I am "normal".

I agree to a certain extent. Basically everyone is different and they tell you that at the hospital at times. Everyone's health effects them differently. Different functions of the kidney go at different times. Some people pee for a long time while others lose that function pretty fast.

what is this word urinate you are all talking about? ::) is it somthing we are supposed to do? ??? it sounds familiar i just cant put my finger on it though :o (ew, that was an ugly thought) :P :P

I pee.
Me too. :clap; But for how long? Is anyones guess ::)
-
Nope, not for me.
Stop the car you say, you need to go. Sorry for you >:D

I'm on dialysis 5.9 years...started slowing down on pee a year ago. Now in the morning about an 1/8th of a cup and sometimes a few drops at night. Makes me mad when I feel like I'm gonna have a great pea and only get a drop. Good point is we can do road trips with no pit stops :clap;

Its happening less and less and its clearer and clearer. Used to be three to five times daily, but now its more like once or twice. Also, used to be amber, now its clear. Since I'm retaining all the liquid I drink, I drink less. This is to avoid having to loose too much during the dialysis. The more I ask them to take off during dialysis, the greater the chance of ending up with a blood pressure crisis. I had to be hospitalized once for that and don't relish ever doing it again. Best wishes to everyone.
-
I've only been on PD since 12/06, and I had guesstimated that I was averaging about 300-500cc's three times a day...imagine my surprise when I collected 3300cc's of urine, and my KT/V was 7.46 !!Nope, no such luck! I asked about possibly stopping dialysis...response="it's working, and it's working well". I was encouraged by the decrease in my bun and creatinine, and they haven't completely discounted the fact that I could be regaining function....transplant process due to start next month. I can't imagine what it will be like when I do stop urinating, I think I'm already mourning the possibility. Knowing that it can/could stop, I find that I do appreciate urinating alot more, and I've already begun the rough draft of "Ode to Pee", LMFAO!!

Yeah exactly! Mine was clear for the longest time and they told me that I was only peeing out water and nothing was actually being filtered! So I definately needed dialysis. I miss peeing because I wasn't so heavy :(

Wow to be able to have that kind of KT/V!! Mine today was 1.6 lol

yes, i still go after 7 months on hemo, but not as much as before. sometimes my fluid gains are.6 and other days around 3.0 :wine;
-
I still pee as far as I can tell as much as I've always done as I don't have a fluid restriction. I've been on ccpd for six months now and they said at clinic that my output would start to reduce but touch wood it hasn't done yet. It's very pale and frothy so I suspect there's not much in it except protein. I've got PKD and apparently you can still pass fluids for quite a while.
-
When I can, I sweat more than I pee. I remember when sweating was a bad thing. :2thumbsup; Not now!

It is extreme, but desperate times call for drastic measures. >:D
-
I still urinate but not alot. Usually once or twice a day and no more that and 1/8 of a cup. Sometimes less. I've been doing dialysis for 5 years 8 months
-
When I left the hospital at the end of January I was producing about 100cc's of urine/day. But those numbers have consistently been increasing...yesterday I hit 1000cc's for the first time.
I'm hoping that this is a good sign and an indication that we are seeing improved kidney function?
-
The doctor told us that it's quality, not quantity. I don't think you can judge filtration ability by measuring volume.
