Oh, that is such good news! This must be such a relief for you! Well done!
-
Awesome!!!! You will find PD very natural to do. Just be Sterile, and you will be fine!
Congrats, Rileysmom! So happy for you. Remember, to ask questions here if you need to know anything. IHD is full of information!

Congratulations RileysMom! As lilmunchkin said, just keep things clean and you will do fine.
-
thanks everyone. and yes i definitely plan on trying to be as sterile and clean as i can especially after some of the stories my pd nurse told me today. some were so gross and unbelievable i asked if she was making them up.
-
Oh my, a comment like that might encourage people to share their gross stories too, and then where will be be? :o
Meanwhile, Rileysmum, its great to hear that things are going well. Here's to an easy, simple, trouble free dialysis career for you and your family.

You will do fine on PD, it wont take you long to get in to the swing of it. Always remember "Do not cut corners"

thanks everyone, well today i got to practice on the "dummy" and was able to do all the steps with out a hitch. my nurse feels i should be good to go by myself by saturday and then next week start learning the cycler. i just dont know how i am going to feel walking around all day feeling so full.
-
You'll get used to walking around all day feeling full. After two days you don't even notice any more - at least as long as you don't catch a glimpse of yourself in the mirror. Looking at me front to back I look the way I've always looked. Looking at me sideways on I might be slightly pregnant.
I also found on day one that I developed a backache. I suspect it was just that my centre of gravity had changed. It has never been back since then.

Believe it or not. After you're on PD for a while, you're gonna get so use to having solution in you, that when you don't have it in you...you're gonna feel "empty". You'll start to feel "right" when the solution is IN YOU, instead of OUT OF YOU. Other PD veterans here should know what I'm talkin about.

I am far from a veteran of PD, but I do not feel too much different when I am full. But then again, I am a portly fellow and a few extra pounds doesn't really impact much. Especially since I have lost 20 pounds in excess fluid I was carrying around before PD. I am feeling better on PD than I did before PD.

I was worried at first about feeling so full. It's funny because 1000cc used to really bother me now I don't even notice. I still feel pretty full after 2000cc and I've had to adjust my nightime dwell so I can sleep but I am getting used to it. Congrats on everything going well!

I do 2000cc fills in the afternoon and have about that much when I come off in the morning. I've noticed my back bothering me a little bit, but not unmanageable.

during the day i am doing 2000 ml"s but at night my pd nurse is now having me do 1500ml's to see how that goes. i was having a hard time sleeping at night with 2000ml's , i was feeling so full and my chest was hurting when i was laying down trying to sleep. soo uncomfortable , so we will see how tonight goes with 1500.... hopefully by next week i will be on the cycler. has anyone ever felt nauseous while doing a fill or right after ( iactually wound up throwing up, luckily i had a garbage bag next to me)? i did last night and this afternoon when i was filling, when i was doing 2000ml's but tonight when i did 1500 i felt fine.
