Final matching bloodtest on Thursday 24th Feb.
Appointment with the surgeon 1Mar.
Will soon have a date :bandance; :bandance; :bandance; :bandance;
Bless the donors, all of them. :rofl; :yahoo; :bandance; :cheer: :cheer:
I know you want to know why I have not mentioned this good news before, :oops; well this is the same donor that has cancelled on me before so I did not want to count the kidneys before they were donated :).
So we have completed all our tests and all looks well. We are doing the VERY last of them all on the 24th. The files will be submitted to the surgeon and the dept of health. Once we have a stamped letter from them we will book theatre and we are A for Away.

Des, reading this post made me very very happy...I've got everything crossed for all to proceed smoothly and I'm really looking forward to jumping for joy when you can be added to the "members with transplants" list.

Thanks, I was a bit sceptical at first but now it is SO close I can taste victory. I know things can go wrong but for now I will be super excited and live in a dream world for a day or two.... everything is going to be picture perfect. :flower;

Oh my God, how utterly, utterly wonderful! It's all happening so FAST!! Gosh, it seems like here in the US, such things take years! I can't wait to hear more!
I just can't imagine what it must be like not to have to wait years and years for a new lease on life. You are so incredibly fortunate, Des, and I am so happy for you.

Oh, Des! What a long, strange journey this has been for you! I am so glad your coworker has got her nerve back.
I'd love to hear what brought her round again. But never mind, eh? She's stepping up now, and hopefully you will be rid of that horrible dialysis forever. :yahoo; :yahoo; :yahoo;
I wish you only the best. Keep updating us!

WOW Des that is so totally stunning. I am going to be keeping you, and your donor, so very much in my thoughts.
-
Thanks all you lovely people ! :thx; I will keep you all posted as soon as I know more. The surgeon's office phoned me today to discuss payment and medical aid. Now that makes it more real. OMGoodness!!! I started studying my transplant bookl. I have pages of info on all the diff meds and their side effects to know off by heart, as well as alot of other stuff about signs of rejection, what to expect and lots lots more.
Chris : It will still be a month or two before the actual transplant, but who's worried about that , NOT ME.
Caraid: The transplant coordinator phoned my donor and she gave her a stern talking to. I don't know what was said (don't want to know) but she phoned and started the transplant procedure up again.
Moosemom - this actually started last year October. To me it feels much longer.
Richard : Yeah! for our cricket team. :rofl;
Alet: I am also doing the crying thing- I really really hope that it can just go through without any incident. :flower;

Doc is removing her left kidney.
The right one has 2 veins and the left 1. (she likes the surgeon - that's good)
Had to see the cardiologist yesterday. They forgot to tell me that his report in our file was outdated. :stressed;
closer people so much closer. :bandance; :cheer:
Bit of bad news with the good - I have to go in for a hernia repair operation the 4 April. He wants to have it done before the transplant. I am not looking forward to that. I think I hate hospitals more than dialysis. (maybe not)
Oh and I had a big bunch of flowers delivered to my donor thanking her for all that she has done so far.... she was all teared up. (can't remember who gave me the idea, but thanks, it worked) :flower;
-
I am now upset..... according to another transplant coordinator they are still waiting for a full medical report for both of us from our doctors.
Couldn't they have gotton this done earlier like OCTober!
:stressed;
-
Doctors assume that we know everything that we are supposed to know without bothering to, duh, tell us!
Sooooo aggravating, but things are coming along. :grouphug;

It would be great if the transplant team could give a check list to the donor and recipient instead of making them jump through hoops unexpectedly. It makes me crazy that it seem hit and miss - doesn't give you much confidence in their ability to pull it off!
-
I am just over the moon for you, Des. Things are finally coming together. There seems to always be some delay or complication, but I have no doubt you will get there soon. I cannot wait to hear the news! Get that support person ready to type away - once you go into the theatre, your support person will be bombarded with questions and comments! Thinking of you, hun!
:flower; :cheer: :flower;

I found your other thread about preparing your house... "what? what?" "what???"
...and came in search of this one!
Such good news Des, you've been doing it so rough for ages, I was really worried about you sometimes. :grouphug;
Got my fingers crossed for you miss Des. :thumbup; :thumbup; :thumbup;
-
I will be naming her (the kidney) Dezy because Desrey is the lovely person giving it to me. :bow;

Thanks ! I would really like to at least have some time line but the coordinator made it very clear: " Des, you can't plan this one! Just wait!."
So here I am waiting. :waiting; :stressed; :pray;
