There's  a high  possibility  that  you're  a  HIGH  transporter  and  need  shorter  dwell times.  that  was  happening  to  my  brother.   His  feet  were  so  swollen,  he  said    "walking  felt  like walking  on  jello"

Hope your  problem  gets  resolved  soon  and you  won't  have  to  switch  to  hemo!!

Awww.  My Blokey wasn't getting anything off on PD despite them trying lots of different things.  They gave up on him in the end, but as soon as he went back to haemoD he felt much better (physically rather than mentally) and lost all that nasty weight that he'd gained.  I really hope that they can work out a solution so you can stay on PD.

*hugs*

A possibility of 3 things .. 1) you need stronger fluid to pull it off (and many people dont restrict their fluid intake when on pd , i was told i was on a restriction just the same as hemo peeps are !

2) Your cath may have moved or you may have fibrin blocking it

3) Depending on how long you have been doing pd ..it may be coming to an end.

Anyway best of luck , hope they sort you out  :2thumbsup;

Don't make my mistake and let it go too long, my fluid build up got to the point they had to drain me, they got 750ccs off and then unfortunately I suffered one of the side effects of being drained, a partial lung collapse. I was in the hospital from July 31st to August 9th, I still have fluid around the lining of my lungs and they said I need more dialysis to get the fluid off because it's causing too much strain on my heart. I'm on oxygen and my poor hubby has had to carry me up the stairs to bed. Any who, good luck, I hope they can do something for you.

do you know what kind of tubing you have?  When I first started PD nearly 20 years ago, They put in a regular, straight tubing, and let it float (iow, it wasn't anchored).  It somehow flipped, and would fill, but would not drain.  What they had to do was order a special type of tubing, that's curled like a pig's tail.  It could flip and flutter around as much as it wanted to, and it would always drain and fill.

But, this is a rare thing.. first things first, ask about heparin to get rid of any fibrin that could be blocking things.  You can sometimes see it in the dialysate, it looks like white strings.  Another thing you may need to do is check the dineal strengths.  It sounds like a fibrin issue to me, though.

im at the hospitqal, they are running tests. So far we dont know anything. Except that he put me back on hemo for now...
i had some fibrin in my bags, so maybe its clogged, but the drs are baffled by my skin looking like this, all swollen and strange.

lol @cat scans
surgery today. They are going to look at the pd cath, and fix or remove/replace it, and possibly remove hernia as well. When all is said and done, and this massive swelling goes down, i have to have more tests because i also have some mass growing on my ovary
they cant see due to the swelling (they saw it enough to know its there, but not enough to know what it is???? wtf?)
im special.
on my way to surgery now see yall when i wake!  :pray;

Sorry to hear PD isn't working.  Hope they can fix it!  Don't worry too much about the mass on your ovary.  My wife has gotten a few cysts on hers over the years.  She had one drained and the last softball sized one disappeared over the course of 4 months.

Well, the did replace the cath, i went home, and 2 days later i get sent back in by the dr, who tells me we should remove the new cath, because i might have an infection my white cells are high... they ran tests couldnt find an actual infection but to be safe we should stop trying.
so far this week i have lost a total of 54lbs of fluid. there is still more on me. I went from 125kilo to 100 kilos in just a few days lol (too have a light side, wow.. what a great weightloss plan!) I wonder how much more i have though... my tummy is still swollen. nowhere nearly as bad as it was, but still bothersome.
The drs think the mass is cysts so they arentt doing anything about that at this time.
 :rant; My doctor may be an idiot.... He had me have an ultrasound checking my gullbladder and pancreas, the next day i asked if he had the results.. he said What resluts? i said the results from the ultrasound... he said Oh, u had one? i said yes, u ordered it. So he looks he said everything looks fine... Then the next day i told him, im still hurting here... he said Hmmm, maybe we should get an ultrasound of ur gull bladder............................................. U ALREADY DID THAT, he said Oh... Oh... thats right yes, what were the results?  :stressed;

Sorry, I'm confused.  Do you still have the cath, and are you still doing PD?  Or are you back on hemo?  How did you get rid of so much fluid?

Yes, your doctor does sound like he's not quite up to speed.  Doesn't instill confidence, does it.

They replaced the pd cath, then decided to remove it. I am no longer doing PD  and they removed the 2nd cath.
Between hemo and leaking from the incision i lost all that fluid. I was changing my dressing about every 30 min, it was pouring out of me constantly sine they put the 2nd cath in. it was nasty.... it reminded me of a water fountain....
