I am a 58 year old single mom who was diagnosed with ckd 3 years ago. The cause was never determined. My current creatinine indicates that I am stage 4 but my current nephrologist believes I am stage 3 based on clearance. A few months ago I made and stuck to some dietary changes and so far I am holding steady. I will find out next month if this is still true. Sometimes it is a rough emotional ride when I think about the future and how I will juggle dialysis and help my son have a normal life. I don't have a support system and will need to figure that out when the time comes.
I am a member of another site and have tried to keep up to date with understanding my disease and treatment options. I look forward to getting to know people here.

Hello Marcy and welcome to IHD. I'm so glad you found us. I've never been to any other site because this one takes care of all my needs. Mostly venting about dialysis! It sucks but here we help each other cope. You will do fine. I hope you are stable for a long time. But, keep reading and learning your options.

Hi Marcy, glad you joined us. Lots of IHD'ers who have plenty of experiences to share with you. Feel free to ask questions, vent or just read and absorb. :welcomesign;

:welcomesign; to IHD, Marcy.
I've always been told that creatinine clearance is more accurate than serum creatinine readings, so it makes sense that your doctor believes you are really only stage three. I hope you keep up the stable labs and that you feel free to use us for emotional support.

Welcome to our community! It is great to have another person born in the 50's (great set of people!) I can imagine your concern at this time. But you will be fine. So far, you seem to be doing well. Keep it up. This is a great place for venting, ranting, raging or raving! Just feel free. You would have to search far to find a more supportive group of people. In fact, I consider this a real family :grouphug; Just keep reading and keep posting.

:grouphug; Welcome to our family of friends. You could stay at stage 3 for a long time. Especially since you are aware of what's going on and are taking measures to prevent it.

Thank you everyone for your warm welcome. It is greatly appreciated. I do have one question and I will ask it when I find the appropriate place on this forum.
