Have you already decided what side the catheter is going on?  Depends on what side of the bed you sleep on.  Ask about extraneal bags and how soon you can start using them.  I think they sometimes don't like using them until they know how you go with the normal ones.

Yes pick which side you want it on , which feels best for you, also the height eg below your waistband. As for questions , there will probably be loads you want to ask when you start PD  and i would say you will be better off if you want honest opinions to ask on here!

I agree! I always had docs wanting to put the PD cath too high for my liking so I'd argue so that it would be below my waistband. Whatever your preference is!

Thats funny because I insisted that it be above my waist band.  The nurses all commented on how nice it was that the surgeon finally put it up high.  Mine is about an inch above and over from my belly button.  It doesn't rub on my pants being it is so high.

It is difficult to know your preference if this is your first PD cath.

When I had my first PD catheter put in, the doc made all kinds of designs on my chest and abdomen, then sat me up and all his pretty designs disappeared.  He told me he couldn't put my exit site in my abdomen, but offered me a presternal catheter.  It comes out about 1 inch to the right of my left breast.  I got so used to it that when I had my second catheter inserted I asked for another presternal one.  I like having it "up close and personal."

I agree ask here completely with kickstart.   I love the surg that put my cath in and he advised me to choose above or below the waistline. I chose above, almost belly button height. But as I have gained a lot of weight since I have to choose pants that dont aggravate my exit site. I wish I had chosen a lil higher.  Im happy to answer any questions I can, good luck!
