Title: Feeling Positive, Thank You
Post by: Poppylicious on September 09, 2009, 08:54:00 AM
I wasn't sure where to post this but as it's the section I've been browsing through most it seemed the sensible place!

I've spent much of this afternoon just browsing, and I have laughed lots, cried more, and learnt so much more than I have in the last few months from anywhere else.  In my head I've already cleared out the only inbuilt cupboard in the house ready for home dialysis supplies, plus I've already (mentally!) disposed of my computer (it's ok, Blokey has his own and I have a laptop - we're nerdy geeks!) to make way for a little tellybox, and a fabulous chair (and all the medical bits, obviously) in what is currently The Office but may soon become The Renal Unit.

I've realised that my Blokey isn't the only kidney patient who doesn't want to join this forum (I mentioned it last night and he changed the subject), nor is he the only one who can't come to terms with it.  It's ok for him to feel shattered when he gets in from work and it's ok for me to want my own space and Me-Time.  I've also realised that it's fine for me to be mad and angry about the whole situation, and mad and angry at other people when they fail to realise the enormity of it all (but that's another thread!).  And even mad and angry at him and his attitude!

Tonight I'm looking forward to giving my Blokey a massive hug, just because I don't do it enough ... but that won't be until he gets home from dialysis at 11pm.

So, thank you.  I'm looking forward to ranting, raving and laughing here.  And learning heaps more!  I now know that if I'm feeling low this is the place I should visit, even if I don't post often (I'm shy) ... just reading what other folk have to say gives me a good positive outlook and some strength.  You're all amazing, you know?!

 ;D

Welcome to your new second home.
Glad you came out to talk and play...

This site did WONDERS for me and got me totally out of my denial stage.

Ps.  I hate dialysis
But like this site

You sound like you've settled right in nicely here and you won't be sorry.  Your blokey might get sick of hearing about your new friends who aren't avoiding anything but hey he'll get used to us. :flower;

You put into words, what many of us feel - no matter if patient or caregiver.  I think you fit right in with this group!   :2thumbsup;   We all need a safe place to vent, scream and cry and luckily there are many here who will listen.   :cuddle;   I like your writing style.   :2thumbsup;

Thanks guys!  I've been feeling happier all week about the situation, but it helps that Blokey has been quite happy this week too.

Tomorrow we're having my Mother-in-Law, Brother-in-Law and his girlfriend over for a BBQ and we'll be telling them the bad news that the doctors have all but given up throwing new treatment in Blokey's direction, and dialysis will now be for life (transplant pending).  It may result in an unhappy posting at some point over the weekend as my MiL is a very negative woman ... Tsk!

Hi Poppylicious I love your picture, did you draw this your self?

No, I'm afraid I'm not that artistic billybags.  My brother drew it and I have 'borrowed' it.  I'm not sure it's supposed to be me but it looks like me (in a very vague and odd way), so ... !
