Oh Jess, I am so happy for you! I know your Mom is thrilled. This is just about the best thing I have heard for awhile. I am sitting here with tears of joy. It was almost a year ago when we were in Chicago and I am so glad to have spent time with you and your Mom. And, now you have a transplant! So very excited for you. :grouphug; :cuddle;

Wow, thanks for posting this RichardMel!
Yes, I indeed get a transplant...from University of Wisconsin in Madison, only 8 days after being put on their list!
I got a call about 1pm Monday saying they may have a kidney for me, we got here about 5, was in pre-op by 7:30, went in about 9, got back into my room about 2am! I got 2 kidneys, since they were from a pediatric donor, so it will equal about 1 kidney in me. 4 hours after I got back, they were already having me stand up to check my BP, since I was producing over 1000mls of urine an hour! I had produced over 300mls just in the surgery still! I was in a good amount of pain yesterday, but not too bad today...am off the pain pump already!
But my creatinine is down to 2.8 from 10.6 when I was admitted, my urinary catheter is out, and if all continues to go well, I will be out of the hospital on Friday! :bandance;
Also, I got Wi-Fi here!!!!
Also, you can send e-cards thru the hospital site if you want.

My name is Jessica Yendrejczyk.

So happy for you Jess....I just can't quit grinning! Bless you and bless your donor family. :2thumbsup;
-
Hopefully you'll get the card I sent before you get discharged. It says it may take 1 to 2 business days to get, but hopefully you would get it tomorrow. :2thumbsup;

I am doing a happy dance here!! :bandance; :bandance; :bandance;

I have always loved Madison!! Have been there quite a few times over the years (have a good friend who lives in the area :) ) and always enjoyed flying in :) Now if I ever get back there (when MY call comes, it's on the list!!) I will always have a special warm thought for the miracle for Jess that occurred here. I am so happy for you!!

The doctor said they will grow a little, but not a lot.

:2thumbsup; Jaclyn and I are so excited for you! Drink lots of water and eat lots of pizza! :yahoo;
Jaclyn drinks 3.5 L per day, but can't drink or eat anything between 7:30am and 9:30am and 7:30 pm and 9:30pm because she takes her prograf at 8:30am and pm. Do you have similar non eating/drinking before and after Prograf? Do you take Prograf and Cellcept?
No more dialysis! :cheer:

I take Prograf. I don't eat anything until after I take my Prograf at 8am, which is no big deal since I'm not really a big breakfast eater, then I eat dinner about 6, then take my 8pm dose, then don't eat anything an hour after that.
-
I do not see anything on the packet information from Prograf and the pharmacy about not eating food, but I do see it on CellCept though not to eat 1 hours before taking or take 2 hours after eating.
Then again, if you take all pills at once, it doesn't matter as long as you follow the rules of how to take them.

It says on the sheet they gave me and on the med bottle
-
I'll have to look on their website because it doesn't show in the 3 bottles from the manufacture I have. I better look at the use by date to. I shouldn't have thrown out the latest mail I got from Prografs Transplant Living that had their insert.
-
You can either take it with food or not with food, once you start with one you are supposed to stay with it so it metabolizes the same way everyday. UW started me on it without food.

:waving; Hey Jess SNAP!! :cuddle;

I went to the Prograf website and saw that it now says not to take with food. Also downloaded a 36 page manual about Prograf.
I was started on Prograf and CellCept and always take it without food because that is what they had me due to CellCept warnings and I don't see taking all my meds at different times just to eat unless it's an emergency. At a conference in May the doctors and pharmacologist where talking about how some people can take their meds with food if they can tolerate it, but not everyone can they mentioned. Think I would have an upset stomach if I did that!
Learn something new everyday.

I take cellcept and prograf, I eat b4 & after med time,but wasn't told either which is correct.Tx clinic & neph says i doing great ,now I'm concerned that I am wrong by eating and drinking at med time.Hope I'm not hurting anything by eating near med time......God Bless!..Chris

Just thought I would give an update!
My 2nd post-transplant appointment went very well- I got my prednisone knocked down to 15mg (and the PA said that I would be on prednisone "for a long time"...does that maybe mean not FOREVER?!? ???), I got off my stomach acid med, and I was told the next time I go in (my 3 month post-transplant appointment), I'll be just seeing a nephrologist! Also I got both stents out..which just so happened to come out both at the same time. The doctor said she was going to go play the lottery, cause that NEVER happens. :P
However, my prograf level did go up...It has been 7 or 8. On Monday's draw, it said 7, but on Thursday's draw it said 11. My coordinator was surprised my creatinine stayed down (1.1 for the last 2 weeks!!! :yahoo; :yahoo;), so she said they would just adjust my level depending on this week's level, which they should get the results on either Thursday or Friday :waiting;. I was worried that if my prograf level was still high, my creatinine would be up this week, but it was still 1.1 on Monday. However, my BUN dropped down to 7 from like 12 last week. LOL...Why doesn't anything normal ever happen to me?
I asked if I could get lowered on my BP meds since my BP has been running around 105/60 in the morning. But of course, it was in the 120s/80s the whole time I was there. The PA told me they like to have patient's BP as low as possible without being light headed, then they will drop the meds down. Well, this week I've had 2 readings of around 95/60, so I have a feeling that may be happening sooner than later. I also signed up at the gym today...I was at this gym before I got sick, so it will be nice to get back into it! :grouphug;
-
:yahoo; Great overall Jess!
We had to fight to reduce Jenna's BP meds, actually we just had her taking half and checked her BP twice a day - when the neph saw it was still low he stopped her meds.
Congrats! Hope things continue to level out! :2thumbsup;
-
Seems odd they have you stopping the stomach acid med with the effects some of these immunosuppressants have on the stomach. Your the first I've seen taken off that med. Hope they will check on your bones later also due to the effects of prednisone.

The PA took me off the stomach acid med since I haven't had any stomach problems since taking the meds, and she said because of my age she's not really concerned with me developing ulcers. She told me to start taking it again if I develop heartburn. And yes, I have to get a bone scan done in 3-6 months so they will have a baseline for in the future.

:2thumbsup; Yay Jess,
It is all up from here!! Graduating soon, a new car and perfect creatinine!! I am grinning from ear to ear for you. :cuddle; :cheer: :cheer:
-
I went for my 3 month post transplant appointment Thursday (even though it's not 3 months until tomorrow!). My creatinine was the lowest it has ever been... 0.9!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :bandance;
My prograf level keeps going up...7...then 9...2 weeks ago 12. My appointment wasn't until the afternoon, so I took my AM prograf Thursday. Then I got a call from the hospital friday because they got my prograf level from Thursday...it was 15. Well DUUUUH. I had prograf in my system! So lets hope it goes down this week.
I also hope this allergies/sinus problem I'm having goes away! It literally started an hour after I left the cliniic..and has been attempting to kick my butt since! :rofl; :rofl;
-
Hey Jess! Great news! :bandance;
-
You probably already know this, but Prograf leavels are rare to be the same week after week, even day after day. My tx clinic did the same thing and they knew I took my morning dose. We're not going to take our meds to late so you can take blood test when you feel like it.
Good to hear your Creat is that low. :2thumbsup;
