Title: My rant today
Post by: kitkatz on December 29, 2008, 11:37:41 AM
 :rant;

Last night as I was leaving the dialysis center, I heard one of the patients complaining about how he has been on the transplant list for six years, and if he had known he would be on it so long he would have told them off long ago.
I shut my mouth because my hubby was there to get me. Here is what me and the big stick wanted to say:

Well lucky him!  On the list and waiting!  Well Buddy, try ten years of this dialysis crap and no end in sight. Try for the transplant list twice and getting turned down both times.  Try working a full time job and then coming to dialysis. Try being here near someone like you who has no head phones and has a TV up loud.  Try to sleep with that racket going on.  Then do dialysis and get two to five hours sleep and then go teach full time! And then know that there is no hope, because you have to do it again and again and again, until the good Lord decides you have had enough!  Come sit in my corner for a few years and see if you like it.  At least you have a glimmer of another treatment in transplant on your horizon of life.  So get off your proverbial complaining ass and call your transplant coordinator and bug her. Get your tests updated. Stop complaining about not getting one.  At least you have a chance.

 :rant;

 :rant;

It hit me last night more than ever that this is never going to end during my lifetime.  Oh shit! Two needles a week for three days for the rest of my living life here on this planet!  God, there better be a prize for me when i get there!
I cannot let myself dwell on these thoughts to long or else I will go crazier than I already am.

 :rant;

:-)

That was a rant?

Seemed more like FACTS to me.  You are a brave person with strong convitions.  I admire everyone here at this board.  And the fact that you teach fulltime gives me hope that i will continue to work full time once i start dilaysis in the next month or so.

As for the TV being to loud i can see how that could drive you crazy.  Maybe they should hand out headsets for people watching the TV???  Is there a suggestion box.

Oh and yes there will be a prize for you in heaven.   No more dialysis no more people to drive you crazy.

Kitkatz: I really admire those of you that dialyize and work. I don't know how you all
do it. The only good thing for me was already being retired before I was forced to
go on dialysis. I don't think I would have the energy to work. I agree about our
fellow patients who blast the TV. I don't want to listen to your stupid show!!
The controllers in our unit didn't have a place for a headset, so you end up
hearing a bunch of programs. TGFPD.

Kit,  I am sorry for what you have to endure.  People can be so stupid with their words.   If the love we have for you could heal you--it would be a done deal.  I think we all are constantly amazed at how you cope with everything.  You walk through life with grace and kindness.  You could be full of hate, but you have a heart full of love for people.  I am proud to know you.  Keep ranting.  We are always a click away.   :cuddle;

I know the feeling Kitkatz.  I've got a moaner (mostly she just cries "help"), but last Friday she began to scream, and I was in a position where every scream went right into my right ear.  I went home with such a vicious headache.  Any possibility of speaking politely to this a-hole, or asking not to be put in the chair next to him?  That's what I did with the screamer.  Hope everything works out for you.

Kitkatz, for what it is worth, you have my respect and admiration.  I look forward to your posts because they are always full of wisdom and common sense and humor.

As for the jerk who upset you, life is full of them.  It definitely helps to rant now and then.   ;)

Tell him to get a headset or complain to management.   :Kit n Stik;

You are so positive in many ways. I think if you were to tell this insensitive idiot what you told us, maybe he would appreciate his position more. Because you are positive and a good teacher, hearing from you may be just what he needs. You could teach him a few things, no doubt. You are an inspiration.

Ever thought aabout typing that up and somehow slip it over to him unnoticed or noticed. Or fold it into an airplane throw it at him and hit him in the  :sir ken; hard enough to he has a paper cut on his behind so everytime his arogant butt sits down, he has a pain in his butt to remind him of himself. ;D

 :grouphug; You are our hero! You have done this for so many years and your rants are rather mild in my opinion. I think that you are wonderful example of someone that is living a busy and productive life. You are a great role model not only to the kids you teach at school, but to others around you.

Hey Kit. You are a star.  How you do it is beyond me completely.  You not only do all the things you noted but you are also sweating it out at the gym.  You are a fantastic role model for anyone pre-dialysis who is nervous about the start of their journey. Sometimes I get overwhelmed with the idea of six nights, eight hours and lots of needles but you are a terrific role model for me because I want to keep working at go to the gym etc etc.  I'm so sorry you can't have a transplant and unfortunately there are a lot of people out there like your dialysis neighbour - Rerun knows all about it.  So many of my family members have been on dialysis, have had transplants and there are pros and cons to both.  I actually think those on dialysis faired better than those who had transplants because they chose not to wait for a perfect, even better, match and they had numerous complications.  I don't begin to understand how you feel as I haven't even started down the road yet and for all my bravado about saying I will never have a transplant, let's just see how I feel about that after 10 years. You are the only rightful owner to that big stick and you start swinging it around honey!!!

i  reckon  some  people  need a whack  on  the  head  some  days.

yesterday  at  dialysis  a  patient  was  left  sitting  in  his  chair  for  about 5 minutes  as  his

nurse  was  in  the  toilet,when  she  got  back  he  promptly  abused  her.

take  a  chill  pill  DH,

i guess  some  people  believe  the  world  revolves  around them

I love you, Kitkatz!  Meeting you in Vegas was a true highlight!   I admire your strength and perseverance.  And now, in addition to dialysis, work, being a wonderful wife and friend to Victor, you are now going to the gym and getting yourself in shape!  You amaze me!     :clap;  :clap;  :clap; :clap; :clap;

My center turned all the sound off of the TVs and we either have earphones or read it in close caption.  Maybe you could suggest that to the lead person.  I work full time too and I am in awe of you and your stamina.  I am a newbee and can't even imagine 10 years of this but living is  my goal so I will do what I have to. Thanks for the ranting.  Its comforting to know I'm not the only one who gets frustrated.
