Interesting jewelry:
http://www.kidneyjewelry.com/Story Behind the Jewelry CollectionThank you for coming to my website! I‘m Myra Schwartz, a kidney patient since 1991, who began creating kidney shaped jewelry as a way of dealing with the loss of my own kidney function. I spent 10 years on hemodialysis before receiving a living non related donor kidney transplant in 2002.
(A note to my extraordinary donor, Fran, is on my “About the Artist” page.
I’m a bead jewelry designer by trade. Not long after starting dialysis, I came across my first few kidney shaped beads, and a collection was born. Formerly known as Spare Parts Jewelry, my line now has a constantly changing assortment of miniature kidneys made of glass, gemstone, bone, polymer clay, sterling silver and other materials. Kidney shaped beads are difficult to obtain-just like real kidneys!
Each piece of jewelry is designed with fine quality components & craftsmanship, infused with my love of beads, a creative spirit, and the desire to create something positive from Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD). Each item acts as a small reminder that life is about continuity, hope and love. It is my wish that you feel this spirit and are nurtured into positive thought!
I offer quantity discounts to kidney organizations. Please email for details.
I’m very pleased to give a portion of my gross annual sales to patient education programs. My 2007 donation went to the Renal Support Network based in California.
