Tsk, tsk, tsk.   :(

This is not the way to inspire a sense of community.  If we can't talk things out, what good is the message board?

I think that after a matter has been fully thrashed out, and it is one that is not helpful to newcomers or those who really need this website, then it can be put away.  It will not be deleted, but just stored away nicely.
And that is what has been done.  No post is deleted.
It is much more helpful to our sense of community that we promote things that are helpful.  Most of those things were nothing to do with dialysis, or helping those on dialysis.  We must not lose our focus and allow other (minor) things to take over our emphasis.
Also, the same things were being said over and over and over ad nauseum.

Well I talked to sandmansa on the phone and we worked out our differences, I don't want our flame war to discourage new members from joining, I hope you understand. So lets get a general consensus, should I un-delete the threads? And just lock them?

Correct, they are ARCHIVED in a hidden section, the 2 threads I deleted were:

OK, but the main complaint Epoman had about Davita's board (or so I heard) was that they deleted his "non-productive" posts (rants, etc.).  Well, what was done here?  How does that make us any better?

The difference is that the people involved agree that they had had enough.    Are you saying, Sara, that you want that thread replaced?  Aren't you of the opinion  that we had enough of that back and forth?   What is it that you want?  I am really disappointed and you will never understand why.

ok I just saw this now and I want to say I GAVE EPOMAN permission to delete my post since we DID talk things out (Sandman, Epoman and I, for over an hour mind you)! And the other one was his own about the same thing (spelling) mentioned over and over again in other threads... so don't worry, it is not like anything of relevence was deleted! Nothing that effects anything! Don't worry things are okay now Sara! Please carry on now everyone!! :P

Deleting these threads was really smart in my opinion! :D Or archiving them as the case may be. I had some posts in there and it was the wisest course of action in my opinion. It could really turn off future members AND donors!!! Frankly I was sort of hesitant to come to the site this morning, wondering, what now? What next? I'm GLAD to see it resolved!!! ;D

My view is that the only one to delete a thread is the one who started it, barring spam etc. etc.

However all sites delete threads from to time.  The only real time I have an objection to something like that is if they are trying to hide something.

Considering the threads in question, I do not see it as trying to hide anything.  They merely turned into......shall I say..... a piss fest. ;D

Rerun and Kitkatz you and your popcorn I bet you two never share it >:(

I was getting fed up with the same thing keep popping up. I had my say in the thread. That is all I wanted, now it is all over.

I was looking for the thread today to see if any more ranting had gone on. Did not realize it had been deleted until I saw this thread. I do think it was the best thing to do, too delete the two threads.

It was deleted by the ones who started it. Since I don't have that power I told him he can do it for me ;)

So all is good :)

I have been told it is not normal practice to delete ANY posts and so they were NOT deleted but just archived. Here our posts we are free to say whatever we want as Epoman believes in free speech so don't worry! After talking to Epoman I feel a lot better and understand him better. The issues between him and Sandman have been resolved and we all feel better because of it.

Infact, I was thinking, what are new ways to offer support to each other. As I didn't realize but, a lot of us need to feel recognized and appreciated. I know this site has done this for me, but even I have felt at times like an outcase :) Instead of dwelling on problems, we should help each other out and be there for each other.

Yes, the posts are not where you last saw them but that was because the issues have been resolved. And I am glad they were resolved so fast. I would like to think that we could offer each other support so that all issues can be resolved so fast :)

Sara, I stand by my stance about deleting the two threads, first off I deleting one of my OWN threads and I deleted a thread that was started By Angie and I asked her permisson FIRST. The 3 of us (sandmansa, angie and I) worked out our disagreement and we decided it would be best for the good of the site if I just archived those 2 threads. In almost 10,000 posts I have only deleted 4 threads total, 3 of those were created by me and the 1 thread by angie which she agreed was the best course of action. I can't honestly believe you are making a big deal out of this, have I not proven that this site is different from all the others by now? If at any time you wish to view the archived threads just let me know and I will allow you access to them, this goes for all members if you wish to read the archived threads just send me a PM.

I don't really feel I am "making a big deal" of it.  If Angie/Sandmansa agreed for the post to be deleted (or "archived" - basically same thing since it's not out in the open) then that's their choice and I don't have a problem with it.  I was not aware they had asked for that to happen.  It wasn't announced as far as I can tell.  So fine, that part of the matter is over, dropped.

I am, however, still waiting to see what it is that I'm not capable of understanding.

Yes you are making a deal out of this, because you are keeping it going. It is archived which is far different than deleting, as I told you and ALL members if you wish to read the threads YOU MAY! I just don't want the infamous threads to discourage new members when they are new and come here for looking for help or answers to kidney disease. Deleting the thread means those words are gone FOREVER, that is a BIG difference.

And about: I am, however, still waiting to see what it is that I'm not capable of understanding.

I really think you should PM bajanne2000 about that situation.

Well I talked to sandmansa on the phone and we worked out our differences, I don't want our flame war to discourage new members from joining, I hope you understand.

Well, it was on a voice chat program but close enough.  And yes, Epoman and I had worked out our differences in a satisfactory manner.  I too, was not happy to see an on going flame war which is why I requested a conference with epoman in the first place.  Thank you for taking the time to talk with me sir.
