I am glad I actually have friends that want to know what is going on with me. But man oh man!! My doc switched me off one med (Myfortic) because it's been messing my stomach up. At first he moved to the coated version. I did OK on that for awhile but then it started messing with my stomach again. So now I am back on old fashion Imuran.
Anyway...I was explaining this to a friend of mine. She asked the usual why did he change things. Then she started asking me the same questions over and over again. She asked me what the drug does for me twice and asked me if the drug would help me twice. I was like HELLO!!! are you even listening to me.
Normally I don't mind a 1000 questions but try to work with me.

There are days I would like to have xerox copies to hand out because I get so tired of repeating things. You no sooner explain and they will say "now, explain that again". I am sorry your friend wasn't listening or taking time to really comprehend what you were saying. That is why you have all of us!

Ever been tempted to print business cards to hand out?
Mine would say -
I'm fine.
Yes, I'm on the list.
No, I have no idea when I'm getting a transplant.

I was on Myfortic for a while, but was taking... protonix or its equivalent for stomach problems.. mostly to do with the predinsone I was also on. But shouldn't something like that help? I know it helps with acid and the formation (or hopefully lack there of) of ulcers.
And after my transplant they had me on zantac I believe... I know its not uncommon and is listed next to all these funky drugs in all the information they give me on renal patient drugs.

My business card would read:
No, I am not on the transplant list.
I am not eligible. What's it to you?

I'm with ya, Brightsky. When I went on dialysis just before my second transplant, I got so tired of repeating myself that I simply stopped talking to everyone except family and coworkers. Sorry you're going through this.

When they ask how you're doing, you could say, "Same as last time." "Still hoping to get a kidney, by the way, what blood type are you?" That might get their attention.

Wait, ever since I turned 50 I have to write it down if I want to remember. I have lists everywhere. Maybe you should pass out paper and pencils for note-taking.

You could give them your coordinator's business card with your blood type written on it.
