well i had one nurse say to me that dialysis patients had a higher risk of getting hepatitis c or whatever, i wouldnt know i am no doctor, i think the rules do apply though of using a clean studio and clean needles other then that if you dont your pretty much screwed.

According to the recent news you can also get HEP in the dialysis clinic, as happened recently in NY.

Single use needles, although not required by Australian law (I suppose because needles can be sterilised) are something to look out for. The studio I go to uses single-use needles. Obviously surgical gloves are also used.

There is no excuse for a professional studio to be passing on diseases like hep.

This is an interesting one from a tattoo artist:
Artist: Orrin Hurley - (email)
Placement: Back

Comments: A great story.. My friend Nick gave his kidney to his cousin when she was in the hospital awaiting a donor. So we did this over where his missing kidney was. One of my favorites.. This tattoo took 3 hours. I used a 15 mag for the whole thing.. then at the end i decided it needed a few crisp lines at the bottom and in the veins.. so i set up a 5 liner and tightened up the piece.

ok... what do you suppose is meant by this tattoo design....?
I am guessing it's a deceased donor handing over a kidney.

Amanda's story here: http://ihatedialysis.com/forum/index.php?topic=12054.0
Amanda Gedraitis, 25, shows her tattoo celebrating the kidney she donated in December 2005. She named the kidney Pedro. Gedraitis is the youngest person in Illinois to have donated an organ without knowing the recipient.

hi just to let you know that I have some Tatts.... now let me see ...on my right arm (near my shoulder) I have a sign for long life and happiness, on my left arm ( near my shoulder) I have a circle of friends logo, on my right breast jumping down to protect my heart is a tiger ..yes I am born in the year of the tiger. ON my lower spine I have eternal friend written in cantonese. ON my shoulder blade (right one) I have Elma Fudd cause my mothers name was Elma and so is my middle name. ON my belly right near my belly button I have a purple sea horse...cause i was facinated by the fact that it is the male that gives birth not the female...why can't our men give birth...lol then I have a dragonfly on a fence on my right lower leg... again it is purple .... then my latest one is a MEDICAL ALERT on my left wrist... this has a list of my known allergies... plus four dragonflies for my four children and you guessed it they are different shades of purple. Keep smiling Love to all Purple ...... :cheer:

Okay, so I had sitting number three today and it is actually starting to look like the lovely pin up girl she is supposed to be, now, and the dog is coming more into focus too. It really is a bloody big piece!!! Should look great when finished.

I'm very impressed with this studio that I am attending. Very professional, very sterile etc. When this is finished, I might look into a transplant memorial tattoo! (After all, it will be my two-year transplant anniversary in a few weeks.)

I thought years ago that tattoos were just a fad. If I saw a really pretty girl with tattoos I'd ask "What are you going to tell your grandchildren when they ask about your tatoos?" That was 30 years ago, and it's only got worse. I think that if you have tattoos, your children will get tattoos. I realize that it's a question of choice. but i think that the best excuse for having a tatoo i ever heard was this guy said "I got a tattoo of a fish on my penis for women that can't eat meat on Friday" :2thumbsup;

I don't have children, but even if I did I would make the same choice. I would like to think my children would be smart enough to make their own choices, too, and if they chose tattoos I would not object, as long as they were adults!

Maybe we learn FROM our children, my daughter has a tatt, my son has 13 of them.  My son took me to his artist to get my first one.  I have been debating on another.....but I think I'll let this whole transplant thing settle for awhile first.

30 years ago girls who wore long, dangly pierced earrings were considered trampy.  Thank goodness we move forward.  Both my daughters have tattoos. One has a tiny nose piercing.  You couldn't ask for two better people--tatts and all.    :2thumbsup;

One of our teachers is inked up and getting more all of the time.  He is also a biker dude.  You would never believe his wife is a biker chick and has a tattoo, too. She is so quiet and demure at school.

No one ever believes I have tattoos. I always have to show people because they think I'm making it up. I'm a very quiet, shy person and growing up I was one of those honor student/band geek/good girl types who never did anything to get in trouble. Oh how little did they know....  >:D

I'd thought about it, then thought about how painful it would be and how pricey it would be due to all the color and detail. I like dragons, but want more of a detailed dragon like the picture.

The pain isn't an issue with me. I kinda weird that way like a little pain.  But the money part is the issue. With detail and color mine is gonna set me back somewhere from 175 to 200 dollars. That is a lot for a tattoo. I need to find someone who will do it for me for cheaper.
