white rice milk has little to no phosphate in it I believe. But when I tried it I wanted to puke! It tasted like watered rice.... like rice has been sitting in water for a month and you decided to drink it .. yuck!!
 Same thing I thought. Only time I use it is when being used as part of a mix in something that has to be cooked, then get no taste of it. |

I love rice milk on cocoa pops or just on its own. Cream makes me really bloated so I have to watch that. I do love it though, especially on scones or pikelets.

Piklets are basically like pancakes but are thicker and fluffy like cake and you make them about the size of a cookie. You usually have them as morning or afternoon tea with jam and cream. Heres a pic http://www.plainsfolk.com/weblog/pikelets.jpg |

Yummy!!! Have you ever heard of Crepes? They are like pancakes but thinner and there is a restaurant in the town next to my small city that serves them as different meals .. like with meat .. and desserts with fruit sauces and ice cream  Yumm! Real good! My mom took me there for my 32nd birthday! |

You can use the Dairy Delicious milk to make the pasta sauce and it is good in casseroles. Or at least worked for me. I was warned that I fed my son too much rice--after being told how great a choice white (YUK) white rice was for him. They said he was getting extra fluid that way!  Mom 3 |

Okay, I'm kind of nervous here. My nurse told me that I wasn't on any diet restrictions. So I've been eating willy nilly! I have gained a few pounds so I am trying to be a little better.
Problem is I'm freakin tired when I get home. I work about 45 minutes away from home so it's no less than a 10 hour day for me. By the time I get home I do not want to cook so I normally get something fast - or a bowl of cereal - with milk!
I've got my test results and the only thing that really looks bad is my calcium. I've been bad about taking my Renegal (sp?) and calcitrol (sp?) so i guess that's why.
I am guessing that everything is okay as long as my dialysis nurse says and my tests are okay?
What are binders?

Hi Deedee, the Renagel are your binders, they help your body with the phosphorus, very important to take with meals.

Ya, and as long as your phosphate is good and you are taking your binders then you can keep with how you are eating (including milk) right now. Do what works for you with keeping your bloodwork results in mind. If it is good, then you are doing some thing right  |

What are binders?
Phosphorus does not dialyze out very well, so we take binders. It binds the Phosphorus in our intestines and we POOP it out. The tablets act like little sponges with our food to soak up Phosphorous. How much does it soak up? No one can tell me. Just take them. Just "do" it. |

I used to take this liquid stuff that tastes like orange but I can't remember the name of it now. It worked well enough though. The Nephrologist prescribed it for me. |
