I am curious how people review the posts when they come on IHD.
I usually click on "Show unread posts since last visit." and then I go to "Show new replies to your posts."
Sometimes I go through section by section, clicking on the little icon at the end of each topic to see the last post.
It takes me forever to read everything.
Anyone else have a different ritual?

I check replies to my posts then unread posts since last visit (so what you do but the other way round).  I've set it up so the last post appears first when I go into a topic (if that makes sense) so on new posts I read the top one and if it looks interesting I go to the start and read from there.  I try to check in morning and evening but if I miss then it does take a while to read through, although I feel I owe it to everyone who takes the time to post, just to skim read at least even if I don't reply or comment.  Everyone who has taken the time to post deserves to have their posts read in my book.

Like you Karol, I hit the "unread since last visit", then I usually look at recent posts (especially news stories), and sometimes, I'll check a person's last posts (via profile) to follow certain threads. Whenever I see a new name, I always look for their introduction post.

I read it like you okarol,
"Show unread posts since last visit", then "Show new replies to posts."
Sometimes if I want info on a specific subject I will "search" because there is much info from the past I find useful.

I can say I have read every post on the site except in the news articles area.  I usually save the off-topic area until last for a treat to myself.

I just can't read them all.  This site has grown so much that I just click on unread topics and pick the ones that look most interesting.  The games are cute and I really liked the Trivia topic, but some of the other ones are just to improve numbers and you know how I feel about that.  So, I just don't worry about reading every single one.

So you're reading them by section rather than from the "unread posts" list?

Goofynina and Epoman - Gone But Not Forgotten

First I go to "Show new replies to your posts" and then "Show unread posts since last visit".   I remember us discussing this with Epoman.  He always felt you should just look at each section and see where the kidney sign was white (showing unread posts).  But this way seems easier to me, although I realize that I do miss some posts.

I just discovered some relatively new threads yesterday that I hadn't seen before.  I started wondering if this could be a cache issue.  I have started emptying the cache before I check for unread posts.

I do it like you, except I don't click the answers to my posts as I figure they will show up under the posts I haven't read since last time.  There's always a lot on here!

                  then I go to recipes for what is for supper ( I know, I know)
                  then I look for pms
                  then I make sure I am winning a the POST
                  then I check the two choices on posts updated or posts answered
                  then I check to see where Flip and Sluff have posted----------------------two wild and crazy guys-----------

I click show unread posts, then go backwards... so I read from the earliest unread posts to the latest so that I get up to date.

I read the replies to my posts first, then new posts and then replies again.  I do it this way because the replies show up in the new post section and there are already enough posts in there to read then recheck the replies in case someone replied while I was reading new posts. I admit I don't get a chance to read them all, but I try to read as many as I can.

 :flower;  THANK YOU! for the flower icon! I go to forums, introductions first to see if there's a new member, then I look at all the posts that show someone has commented "today". Then I go to show unread posts and/or replies to posts. I do miss some.

Okay, I am feeling really, really stupid.   :shy;

Where does it say "Read unread posts since your last visit"? and "Read replies to your posts?"

I have looked all over and can't find it.  I feel stupid because when I first started posting I saw those but can't find them now!  :banghead;

I figured it out!  After Chris' reply, I realized my avatar was no longer showing in the upper left corner with my total time logged, etc.  I don't  know how that happened but I went into my profile and at some point there was a drop down arrow - I clicked it and now my avatar etc. is back.   :2thumbsup;

That same thing happened to me once and Epoman figured out what was happening. Somehow I must have clicked the little arrow.
