Going through life tied to a chair!

« on: April 17, 2008, 07:51:53 AM »

My ankles use to be where all my fluid was retained.  Great I could keep track of that.  Then my ankles would be skinny and yet I was short of breath.  OK, so my chest and lungs were retaining fluid.  NOW it is my fistula arm and my left boob.  My arm gets big and my boob bigger.  If I could get my right boob the same size it wouldn't be half bad, but I look really lopsided.

Anyone else have this problem??    :waving;

My extra fluid goes right to my face and eyes!!  I hate it!!!  My eyes get swollen and my cheeks get bigger.  That's when I know I went a little too overboard with the fluids.  I rarely happens now because I hate hate hate the way it makes me feel and look.   ;D

It used to show up in my ankles.  Now it seems to hang more in the trunk of my body waist and lower back.  I put on a few pounds since I quit smoking and the waist band on my pants is tighter so maybe that is why.  I HAVE TO BUY BIGGER PANTS OR LOSE SOME WEIGHT!!!!! :(

The extra fluid hangs out in the belly area.

Fortunately, the majority of my fluid goes in the toilette!  For now, at least!!   However, when I get too much sodium I feel it in my face and fingers.

I'd like to blame excess fluid for the extra weight I'm carrying around my middle but unfortunately I'm afraid it due to the 10 lbs I've gained in the past year.  When I do retain fluid (which isn't as often since I'm on PD), it's in my ankles and my chest.  I have a weakened heart due to coronary artery disease so I'm prone to congestive heart failure.  I know I'm in trouble when I start having trouble breathing.

Mine mainly goes to my stomach area. I always leave for dialysis with my pants fitting perfectly and come back home with them falling down! In the mornings it seems to shift to my face. My cheeks, eyes, and sometimes my tongue swell until I've been up for about an hour. If I stay on my feet too long it all shifts to my ankles and legs.
