2 year anniversary

This week marked my 2 year aniversary since I started dialysis.
I have survived it but just barely.
Minus a leg and now have a pacemaker/defibulator cause in Dec. my heart stopped beating.
Sure hope this year is better.
I feel very fortunate to be here.
This week the dr. said m leg is healed and ready to be fitted for a prosthesis.
That will happen Weds. then it won't be long til I have my leg and will
be learning to walk on it.  I sure hope I learn quickly.  It's been a long time since
I have had 2 shoes on.  That will be great.

I am sure things will get BETTER now. Sometimes it takes a few years to get everything that was "broken" fixed up and working. I see patients all the time with pacer/defibrillators they have had for years and years. They are so new, so state of the art, and so efficient now they last for years. You are in better shape then the average Joe at the mall who can drop over of a heart attack any second because you have your life saver already in place. That thing can keep you going for years and years.Try to think of it as a really GOOD thing and not a bad thing! Wow, you have had a rough couple years. Between the heart, the leg and the dialysis,.....yikes. Enjoy the new leg. You have no place to go but up. You have everything in order now for better days!!

Ohio buckeye and kits husband both have great courage. More than I had, i had the theatre date. The amputation below the knee was due in 4 days. When i decided to say no, thats just over 2 years now 10th April 2006. Still got my leg in pain but manage. Serious pain on machine have pethidine two times. Sore when walk but walk with no sticks..Thinking should have i had it done then at least i would not have gone through all the pain I had then and still have now. I know some time in the future I will have to have the leg amputated. Just do not let myself think about it.

I don't know Kevno.  Victor's was because of an accident.
Mine the infection went to the bone so there was really no choice either.  It is a hard struggle trying to save a limb.
To keep yours as you did is a great victory, but I feel bad for your pain.
I hope it all works out well for you.

Forget about walking you'll be running soon!  You've been through so much, I really want you to do well with the prosthesis.  A friend of mine has one and he does great with it, dances, runs, everything he wants to do.
