I've been on the transplant list for 39 months, so when I got the call last month from my transplant surgeon saying he might have a kidney for me , the emotion of possibilites
was high. After waiting for 12 hours he called back to let me know that our transplant center got one of two possible kidneys( the other went for a kidney-pancreas transplant-or else I would have gotten it. Oh well! Tuesday nite, I got my second call. Finally!! My wife and I went to the hospital, got my room, pre-op blood work, EKG, chest x ray.
Yes, its finally gonna happen. In the morning, I went down to the Pre-op area, Aniestia (sp) Drs. came and talked to me, the nurses told my wife were to wait to get updates on my surgery, things are looking good. Then the surgeon came in and told me that the kidney didn't seem to be functioning at an appropriate capacity and he didn't feel good about transplanting it. We decided to pass and hopefully I'll get my next call soon. I know its gonna happen but I feel kind of drained form the highs and lows.

These are all good signs that the kidney meant for you is on it's way! Best wishes that it is soon - the emotions must be really tough!

What an emotional rollercoaster. I hope it happens for you real soon. At least you know they are looking out for your best interest.

It must be so hard getting your hopes raised and dashed like that. But it means you are right up there at the top of the list and your time will be very soon. I look forward to going on IHD one morning soon and seeing that you are in the hospital, recovering well from your successful transplant operation!
