My last two sessions I arrived with only .9kg on.  These days are very hot and I perspire a lot.  I am also losing weight because I have changed my diet and only use fish as meat (and a cow heel soup on Fridays after dialysis).

:sluff; O0

Popsicles are working when I eat them instead of drinking 4 Oz's each time I go in the kitchen. 1 to 2 oz vs 4oz is better. I still didn't get a go on beer. I think I'll try it any way.  :shy;

:yahoo; :2thumbsup; :rofl; :clap; :beer1; :thx; :bandance;

Really?! Is it alright to drink alcohol while on Dialysis? If alcohol leaves you with less fluid, I'm willing to try it. Which does better...beer or wine.

Flip...I still pee but its not a lot.

Like Flip says, alcohol tends to dehydrate, but only if you pee! Any diminishing of output due to loss of kidney function messes with the equation. Someone with normal function will become dehydrated by drinking. Someone with no function will become overloaded, just like with any other beverage. Those with diminished function will be somewhere in between. Please take care when making these decisions.

Personally I've found wine is a little better in terms of the dehydration over beer... plus I find drinking beer adds to my weight :( I think the wine issue is due to the higher alc %/vol. I don't recommend overdoing any sort of booze though as that's bad for you in other ways - not even thinking about ESRD.

Thank you Alene for that reminder. I will take that into advisement. I agree that beer will add to my weight. I tend to pee more once I've gone over my limit. I don't  plan to drink till I'm drunk. :( I'm over doing that for fun. One more question though. Are you drinking wine as your only fluid intake or  are you drinking wine along with other fluids.

Thanx

:o ::) >:D

50 Oz's a day...wow. I can drink 40 Oz's/day. Yes it is very hard. All the suggestions above are good. But I have had some success with popcycles. You can find a variety at Walgreens and you can get non-name brands at Wal-Mart. Keep trying until you get it right.

I love the original "popsicles."

They really help on those hot days to cool my insides quickly.

I also use seltzer to help keep me from drinking too much.

All jokes aside, one thing that helps me is sparkling water. I buy it at Kroger in 12 oz cans. It's nothing but carbonated water. I mix in a teaspoon of frozen fruit juice concentrate (cranberry is my favorite)along with crushed ice. It's like a sparkling fruit juice at a fraction of the cost and it really quenches the thirst.

Also, a friend of mine bought a snow cone maker on Ebay for a cheap price. It works great and keeps fluid gain to a minimum.

In a similar vein, I like low-sodium or no-sodium soda water with fresh lime.  No sugar.  It makes me drink slowly because of the tartness and really quenches my thirst.   :beer1;

You also forget , that if you are on the treadmill for 30 minutes , you will lose fluid . Usually I lose .5-.6 , and on top of that , when your sleeping , you also lose fluid through the mouth because your breathing it off. If I weigh myself before bed time and I weigh 48.5 , the next day I'll weigh 48 , and sometimes I'll go as far as to lose 1.3 pounds
