"I am what I am"

« on: March 10, 2008, 11:44:03 AM »

:rant;;Hey all not sure if I was supposed to start a new topic or reply to my original message.
Anyway here is the rest of my story. Since I have been through all of this. I am also remodeling my house. Which I call "The Money Pit" it has been in the remodel stage for almost 6 years but this year has been the worst. It is almost done, however we have been staying with my mother in law since Aug. what a nightmare! So we have 8 people living in a 3 bedroom house. We actually have made the livingroom into a bedroom and the TV room is in the familyroom. So it isn't that bad. I should say wasn't that bad until there was a flood in the kitchen and now my mother in law is remodeling here house. So now were are a livingroom short. And I am going Crazy. Which is why I am not with my family in the evening. I hook up around 8 so I can be done by 6. and since I have moved rooms I have no TV. I can't wait to go home so I can be in my own space I will have a TV in my room and I can just be me, living in my own space, on my own terms. No mother in law or Others to invade my space. In case you want to know who the 8 people are: Me, husband, 2 girls, nephew 19yrs old. who also has kidney problems (retro peritoneal fibrosis to be exact. He has 2 nephroscipy bags) Another nephew 21 who's in the coast guard (plus when he's here so is his girlfriend)  My mother in law has raised the 19 yr old since birth and the 21 yr old came about 5 yrs ago. There mom is a drug addict and their father in prison. SO then there is my mother in law She is really a great person we get along great when were not in the same house. And finally there is the great gramma who has dementia. She drives me crazy. I have never dealt with dementia but it gets real bad when she's not in the mood. She thinks we are trying to trick her and keep her family from her. She doesn't even realize we are her family. She sees things that aren't there. and people are always in her room (or so she thinks) She is going to be 90, I tell my mom in law to put her in a home but she won't. She feels guilty. We actually took her out of one after she broke her hip about 4 yrs ago. They treated her so bad. She would have died if we left her there. She has gained weight, eats regularly and takes her meds on time. And we don't strap her to a bed and forget about her for hours. I feel so bad for her but at the same time I can't stand her. She's always been a mean alcoholic. But now that she's sick she's a mean sober lady who wants whiskey all time.
Anyway that is my rant for the week. Just a little more info so you can get to me a little better.
GOT A HOUSE? Hopefully mine will be done soon!

Seriously, you should make a video tape and submit it to Extreme Makeover:Home Edition...your story is right down their alley!! And who knows, they could turn your story into a weepy hour of TV AND you'll get a new house out of it!!!!

I feel your pain. Remodeling causes a lot of stress and I agree that you need to get back to your own space. Good Luck   :grouphug;

Wow--that is a houseful!  I always have extra people in my house, but you have quite a combination.   I hope your home is finished soon and you are able to have your space again. We all need to have somewhere to go and close the door and be alone.  :grouphug;

Mel, my (now ex) mother-in-law lived with me and my ex for the last three or four years of my marriage, and understand what you're saying about your's. We got along great, as long as we weren't living in the same house (oh yeah, and before I decided I didn't want to be married to her son anymore). In a 1200 square foot house, we had me, my husband, our toddler son, my MIL, and usually one or two friends sleeping in the living/family room. I totally understand about needing to get away and have your own space! Come here and rant about it anytime you need to!  :cuddle;

If you feel the need to shoot someone (which I do not advise), we will raise bail. It has been discussed in other threads. IHDers stick together.

I hope you can return home soon.

No house is big enough for two women.  Face it, Diana didn't even want to live in Buckingham Palace, and look how big that place is!  Hope the rest of your remodel goes quickly!

Yes, they have to get you to dialysis treatments! (But we wouldn't let you stay in long enough to worry about it anyway).
