« on: March 07, 2008, 02:01:46 PM »

There will be a programme tomorrow morning in which I will participate.  I was only asked today.  I just checked and the radio station is online.  The programme will be from 11 - 12 EST, and two of us dialysis patients will be there.  Here is the link - http://www.zrodfm.com/

If you missed this talk show this morning, you really missed one super intelligent woman ("bajanne" -- Aurora) talking about ESRD and dialysis.

Oh, goodness, Aurora, you are a fantastic speaker, and you represented those of us who struggle with dialysis so well (patients and caregivers).  Not only did she thoroughly and accurately tell about dialysis, she also got in a BIG plug for IHD !!  Aurora said that IHD was "a family with people from all over the world."  Then, she said, "This [talking about IHD] has been a tremendous support for me."

The other patient on the show, Joe, said, "We are normal people," and I thought that was so marvelous!  He also said dialysis was a "mind thing."  He said you had to learn to accept it and do the best you can when you're on dialysis.  The nurse who was on the show said that ESRD and dialysis has a "big impact" on the patients' families, too.  She said, "What effects one member of the family, effects all members of the family."

Aurora encouraged all in the listening area to go to the Health Expo for the screening tests.  She said, "It's free.  It's your health.  It's your life."

You were wonderful, Aurora, and I loved hearing not only your words but your voice.  You are an excellent spokeswoman for IHD, too!   :bow;  If you run for president of the US, you'll get my vote!

Thank you, Aurora!

Goofynina and Epoman - Gone But Not Forgotten

WWW
« Reply #23 on: March 08, 2008, 12:50:27 PM »

Here I am, taking the hint.  It all went very well.
The programme was sponsored by the Rotary Club here.  Do any of you IHD members belong to Rotary?  As some of you would remember, Okarol put up an article about a $13, 000 donation that the Rotary made to the dialysis unit.  They have a weekly radio programme "Rotary Talks", and my supervisor asked me to be the female patient on the programme which this week dealt with kidney disease.
The Rotary Club is having a Health Day when people can get free monitoring of all the important things - blood sugar, blood pressure, cholesterol, kidney monitoring, etc.
I had to let them know how IHD helped in my coping with dialysis.  It was a very informative programme.  The moderator of the programme was like most people - he had no real clue about kidney disease or dialysis, but he is much more informed now.  I told them that some of my IHD family would probably be listening and I am so proud that some of you did!  Thank you!
No picts - this was radio!

Do you  know if it is still available (I know some radio progs in the UK are available for a week or so after transmission?).   I couldn't work out the timing and completely missed it  ;D.  Would love to hear it if there is a listen again facility.
