I had the Ultrasound on Wednesday, met with my GP on Thursday and had the Vascular Surgeon follow up today.

Got labs done on Tuesday as I said previously in a post. Getting my glucose down gradually!

The surgeon was still Mr. Nothing in the personality side of things but the Ultrsound guy was really very friendly and explained a lot to me. He told me the Radial Artery was very good in the wrist (confirmed by the surgeon) and upper arm but weak at the elbow. All in all they should have no problem with the wrist access. This means I may have to learn to mouse with my left hand instead of my right. I hope to be able to continue PC games like World of Warcraft while on dialysis. YaHoo! That means I can play for about 12 hours a week, perhaps!

My GP assured me this surgeon was the best, as confirmed by the Ultrsound tech who said he's worked for many in 17 years and this guy's the best! So. I am staying with him.

The pre-op is March 12 and the surgery March 14th. That's a bit quick but, as you all suggest, it's best to get it over quickly. I will just go with the flow.

Thanks for the support and informative answers. I'm learning so much about this!

I think it used to be the opposite of which ever hand was dominant. Now it seems which ever arms have the best artery/vein, as in my case they went with my dominant arm, the right.

to reply to Okarol...

I am left-handed but mouse with my right.

Most of us lefties are amidextrous. I am a good example of that.
