Hi everyone. This is Randy, MyssAnne's boyfriend logged in as her. She was concerned about the gift exchange and that she will be a little late getting her gifts sent out.

Anne is a very sick girl but slowly recovering. She is badly anemic and will receive a unit of blood today 11/26. Her white count is up as is the creatinine level. She had a fever of 102.8 when I took her in. She had a good day on Saturday but by Sunday morning, she was in trouble. The cultures should be in by the time I get back to the hospital but at this time, they suspect peritonitis. This is very disappointing considering that her PD catheter was replaced just 3 weeks ago and she has only been back on PD for a week and a half.

The good news is that the Vanco is kicking in and she is already starting to come around  :thumbup;

God bless you all.

Randy

I hope she has a fast recovery and is home soon.  :grouphug;

Peritonitis=painful. If she does have peritonitis, than here is my questions: Other than the vanco, is she getting antibiotics put directly into her bags or did they put her on hemo while in the hospital? If they are doing PD they should be putting antibiotics in her fluid bags to dwell in her tummy for 6-8 hrs, it pretty much makes the pain go away within 20 mins and helps the peritonitis go away quicker.

One of the first things she told me to do right after the order to call her family members was to get on here and explain why her gift will be late. Whether you know it or not, you guys are like her extended family.

She is getting dosed through the bag as well as two additional antibiotics through her I.V. She is doing a little better today. She is in very little pain and what pain she has is in her left shoulder. Her drains are still clear and she has no pain in her belly. The cultures indicate she was in the early stages of "P" and that we caught it in time. She's in a little hospital called Witham Hospital in Lebanon, IN. It is small but it is new and has cutting edge technology. They just opened up a dialysis center in July. Some of the staff have little experience with CAPD patients so they are EXTREMELY careful and diligent in following their established protocol. The really bad thing is that this happened nearly 100 miles from her home. Their ICU people are have been in contact with her CAPD nurse back home so everyone is on the same page.

Thanks for the well-wishes. If she doesn't get home in a day or two, I'll print the pages out and take them to her to read.

Thanks again!
