 :thumbdown;  anyone have high triglycerides (sp)?  MY labs were all PERFECT... normal on everything except the triglycerides.   Whats up with that.... didn't want to ask my dietician at dialysis.... you get that mouth going and you will never get it to stop!

Yes my triglycerides are up near 2000. are you diabetic? High tryglycerides are a direct correlation with high sugars.

Last month my triglycerides were extremely[/i] high.

Normal is less than 150, over 200 is considered high. Mine were over 1000 last month.  :thumbdown;

I am taking a medicine for it now, so hopefully Monday when I get my labs drawn, they have come down.

High triglyceride levels are part and parcel of kidney disease, particularly if you have nephrotic syndrome.

When first tested, mine were 2074 and my total cholesterol was 550.  I have been taking pravachol (an older statin with fewer side effects), Tricor and Zetia.  My lipid levels went waaaay down immediately.  My total cholesterol is now 187, but my triglycerides are still high at the high 300 range, still a vast improvement.  (And I am not diabetic.)

I watch what I eat (always have), and I exercise every day (walking about 3.5 miles per day), so I know that having high lipid levels is not "my fault".  Bite the bullet and ask about your lipid levels.  Meds may be really beneficial to you.  Let us know what old motor mouth has to say.

My triglycerides were extremely high last time too so I took a look at my diet to see where I could cut my intake of sugar.  Every Dialysis treatment I would grab a 20 pack of Juicy Fruit gum and a couple Blow Pop's to ingest while I'm watching my DVD's.  And when I went back to work after treatment I was having hot chocolate.  So I cut all of that out and quit drinking sugar sodas and my levels have been much, much better.

A lot of processed foods also have sugars that aren't readily apparent unless you read the label.

Very good recommendations!  Thanks!  Well, I talked to my nephrologist today.  He said that I come in to dialysis at 1:30 so I have eaten and drank for the day (not fasting), so the test isn't really reliable.  He said for the triglycerides lab I am supposed to be fasting.  Hummmm...  now I am supposed to go in on one of my off days and do a lab.

I take Rapamune. It is one of my anti-rejection medications.

Here is one of it's possible side-effects:

* increased cholesterol or triglyceride levels;

So, that's why mine is high, because it didn't run high before my transplant. So, I will see Monday is this new medicine I am taking has helped lower it or not.  :thumbup;
