Yesterday I had my schnauzer Ilsa groomed and she looked so good I took her to the home training unit of my dialysis center.  It was not an exceptionally good day for the staff but when they came out to look at her they had  big smiles on their faces.

When I do home hemo, Ilsa goes to another room while I do my hookup and then comes back and lies on the floor while I do my treatment.  Unlike testy in-center neighbors she never complains about my stories, my singing, my selection of TV programs or my occasional snoring.

Life is good...

Dogs are awesome!

Yes i had a good day at dialysis today. I found it's only a seven minute drive and at 5 am there's no traffic. I got hooked up quickly, fell asleep for two and a half hours, and didn't bleed all over when it was done. Last Thursday my neph popped in to see me and was very encouraging about me getting a transplant. Other than no kidneys, i am in good health. No diabetes, my heart is strong, and I'm "young" at 55! Friday we picked up the new car we bought and it's working out well. So I am happy. Now if only the Yankees were still in the playoffs, I could say LIFE IS GOOD.

My husband transferred to a new dialysis Center just 10 minutes away. He gets there at 6:00am, no traffic, & is home by 10:30am The other center was over 1/2 hour away.  (I sound like Janney   ;D)

He doesn't like dialysis, but is greatfull for it because it keeps him alive.

I made crab cakes, cole slaw & fried potatoes for dinner & for the first time my crab cakes were very good.

Angela, your post made me very happy.

Ok I want in on this too...

It's my day off from doing home dialysis - YEA!
I got an iron drip yesterday, so I have more energy today!
They approved me moving to a closer clinic for my check ups! (20 min away vs. 1 hour!)
The weather is finally cooler here instead of humid!
I get to watch my son play soccer today!
We have a fair to go to after in our community!
I got a new bike that i love to ride!  My son just learned to ride too!
I have a great husband and three beautiful children!
It's a good day :clap;

I would like to add, also!!

My husband painted our kitchen for me, something that
a yr ago I never ever thought I would see him do again!
He feels very well, is handling dialysis good and has
very good numbers!
Now, he has finished taping the hallway woodwork, so
that will be painted next!
My lil girl Sambuca (shih tzu) is doing well on her kidney
diet food, and our other lil guy Rocky (shih Tzu) loves to
go for walks. I think all these things rate big smiles :clap; :clap; :clap; :clap;

My list of good things that happened to me today is way tooooooo long to include here.  :bandance;  It would take four hours to write it all down for you to read (and who would read it all the way through?) :rofl;  I'll condense it for you...
I woke up this morning, looked in the newspaper's obits, and DID NOT find my name there.    :waving;  That made today a GREAT day...and, tomorrow looks pretty promising, too!

Went on a group motorcycle ride today, we had 42 bikes!!!  Was really cool and I have been on a high all day.  Nice to meet some new people and hang out.  Also going up to the race track (VIR) on Tuesday with two friends for a track day.  Got the bike ready and I can hardly wait.  90 mph corners and 160 mph on the front straight here I come.  Ahhh, LIFE.

Thanks for the kind words Susie.  Today was the best day I've had in over a year.  It was a beautiful thing to be at the track.  When you are out there you don't think of anything but riding your machine and managing the course, it demands all of your focus.  VIR is just one of those places for me, a "heavenly" place, I can still smell the morning dew and feel the sun rising to take it all away.  Ahhh, the "basic goodness."

As dangerous as 90mph corners and 160 mph on the straight may sound it is actually pretty safe.  Living live the best I can...Yes.....living on the edge....not so much.  I only wish it was May instead of the end October so I could plan my next best day of the year.

Aw Amanda, based on that new avatar of yours, your dog is clearly a genius. He was probably pondering the mysteries of the universe for the first 13 years.

Jenna is working 2 days a week at a live-culture frozen yogurt shop (similar to Pinkberry, if you are familiar with that.) And now a neighbor has asked her to come walk and exercise her new rescue dog from the humane society, so she will do that 3 days a week. These are a few of the simple things Jenna just would never have had the energy for before her transplant. That makes me pretty darn happy!

My orchids are blooming,  and since I'm really tired today I'm laying low resting up for my fistula surgery tomorrow.  Best of all I'n NOT itchy yet,  my headaches haven't been around in a while,  my nausea is relatively mild today and my ankles aren't swollen.  I felt like eating breakfast and a friend came over this week and helped me do some gardening chores before the fistula surgery.
I feel grateful for all these things.

It's sunny and warm out, so yesterday's freak snow storm is melting.
 I got my heater for my NxStage, so now I don't have to scramble to rearrange my schedule when I need to - I can just do bags.
I lost another pound last month.
I got my 90 yr old grandmother a rescue cat from the pound and they are a perfect fit.  She's happy with the company, and the cat settled in immediately and is now running the house.
I've got a part time job lined up for this summer where I can set my own hours.  I'll be able to put my money in savings.

Rookiegirl---a Teaching Fellowship Scholorship!  That is marvelous.  In NC, that is a very hard scholorship to receive and only the top are awarded it.  Good for you daughter!  I guess you are happy and doing the  :bandance;

Spring is in full bloom in NC.  The dogwood trees are gorgeous right now.  And my granddaughter, Amanda (10) spent last night with us and went to church with me this morning.
