My older brother and me (I'm on the right)

« on: September 13, 2007, 07:11:39 AM »

Hi everybody

I just wanted to let you guys know that eventhough I had my transplant on July 31st, my doctor has cleared me to get the tattoo that I have told you all about starting in November.  I was sitting around the house one day and had a thought come to me.  There is a show on TLC (The Learning Channel) about a tattoo shop on Miami Beach.  I thought my brother and I have a great story and a tattoo that represents our transplant and bond together.  I wrote the show telling them about our story and sure enough, they started calling me immediately!!   :clap;

Right now they only have a contract extension through the end of October which is too early for me to get a tattoo.  My brother and I are making a video for them in case they get an extension for November/December.  So my brother and I might be on TV.  Maybe this will help bring to light how wonderful living donors can be and the impact they have on someone in the need of a kidney.

Sweet, I love that show.  Don't forget to try and mention the site in your video or while getting tattooed if the show continues to air.  I don't see why it wouldn't.  It is a great show and Kat's new show LA Ink sucks some serious ass.

Internet Casino GoldenPalace.com will leave a lasting impression on Brent Moffatt, who auctioned off his forehead on eBay, offering the highest bidder the opportunity to permanently tattoo their brand on his bald head. This auction is unique because it differs from other auctions offering ad space on body parts, as it will be a permanent tattoo as opposed to a temporary one.

I wouldn't go so far as this heheheh - but I think your story would definitely increase awareness!

That is so awesome for both of you, i admire the closeness the two of you have and i wish you all the luck in anything and everything you do  :beer1; :beer1;

Rimbo,
You should try LA Ink.  Same premise, but mainly women work there.
Might be worth a shot.  Have fun.

I had 2 friends get tattooed at Miami Ink for the show. I'm not sure if they ever aired it, as they are um, adult film stars? Nice girls for real though. If you get tattooed there, try to get Chris Garver to do it! Hes the only one out of the whole crew that was, and is, known for doing amazing work in the tattoo scene. Also, TLC will not cover the cost of you to get the tattoo or your trip to Miami - so you might want to think about it. If you need a heads up on a good shop in your area, just drop me a PM. If I dont know of someone, I will find out from some tattoo artist friends!

And as for Kat Von D ... most overrated, egotistical tattoo artist ever. And, yes, i've had the luxury (hee hee) of hanging out with her several times.

If any of you are in Ohio, you should really go get tattooed by Kore Flatmo. He did most of the b/w portraits on Kat Von D. He's disgustingly talented and an amazing artist. I'm just saving up to have him sleeve up my arm! www.plurabellacom

I agree with this one Chris does amazing work.  I would let him tattoo me in a heartbeat.

If you are in the Chicago area The Jade Dragon is the place to go.  My wife has a few tats and we go out of our way to go there.

I don't know that I would say her work is overrated because she does do some really lifelike portraits.  My problem with is with her and the format of the show.  The other artists seem good, but they do next to no tattooing on the show so it's hard to really tell.  Almost the whole show is wasted following Kat around.  In my opinion she is a lazy drunk that got lucky enough that TLC gave her her own show and I believe paid for the studio as well.  How in the world TLC thinks she can run her own shop is beyond me.  She has no work ethic, is always late and hungover, wont do certain tats or certain types of tats, and is rude in general.  :rant;

Kore Flatmo blows Ms. Von D out of the water on portraits. He is insaaaaaaaane!
