Ok posted about my trapped wind ..but its got so bad today i rang the out of hours doctor ..wow am i glad i did , he seemed to know what it was all about .. he's 99% sure its a Hiatus Hernia and im off for tests tommorrow to find out for sure .Remember a few weeks ago , i thought i had a heart attack ? Seems that could have been the start of the hernia pushing through ..its common to get 'heart attack' symptoms when it starts , so now the rest of it makes sense ! Phew dont know if im relieved or what ?  Fingers crossed the treatment is swift and painless ..oh and forgot to mention ..Hiatus Hernias ARE  common in PD patients (first time i heard of it ) So if anyone gets anything like this in the fututre , i hope my little account helps ? Will keep you up todate with diagnosis and treatment once i've had the tests done ..(first time i will have been out for ages , why couldnt it have been somewhere nice ? )

I knew hernias were pretty easy for those of us on PD to get, but I really don't know anything about the types. Glad it was nothing TOO serious and they get it straightened out for you.

Been to see gp . i have to go for a Barium X-ray ..sounds great ! The worst thing is i could be waiting up to 4 weeks , which i think is crazy ! I would love a doctor to put up with half the stuff we do for as long as we do ..wouldnt you ?

Nothing like waiting when you're feeling bad -- no problem -- yes - it would be great if you could give the doctor a dose of what you're feeling - you can be sure they'd get a solution FAST!

Hope things progress swiftly and smoothly!  :cuddle;

Hey Kickstart, Glad to hear they found the problem  :thumbup;   I am just sorry you have to wait that long to get it resolved  :thumbdown;  Did they say how we get them?  Do they just show up or is it from lifting something heavy or anything like that, in other words, is there something we should avoid doing?  Thank you so much for keeping us updated, its great information especially for those of us on PD  :2thumbsup;

Hi GN   There are several different ways of getting them , we are just more prone! .You can get them by lifting heavy weights , but also can be caused by ..constipation, reflux is a sign , if you eat lot of spicy food , smoke !!!!

This might help explain a bit better, i think we are more of a target for them because of the 'fluid' we have sat in our stomachs all the time , it must push things around a bit !
