Goofynina and Epoman - Gone But Not Forgotten

WWW
« on: March 22, 2006, 05:13:27 PM »

I was just wondering how you guys found this board.  I was trying to find all I could about dialysis, and went on a board at nephron.com.  Some guy with a weird name Epoman had a post about a board named 'ihatedialysis.com', where he said you would get straight up answers and be able to vent without being censored.
I have not regretted one moment finding this website, as I see it as one of my major tools in dealing with this 'challenge'.

Searched in Yahoo for "dailysis support" - thought it was a joke because of the name so didn't look at the site for awhile. Got curious.

A very dear friend who lives in Arizona called one night all excited about a article she found in, are you ready for this? The National Enquirer!! It was about someone who got a kidney transplant on a site called www.matchingdonor.com. From there i was hooked up to this wonderful site!

I was serching for more info on NxStage, found Epo's site about his and followed the link from there to here.  That was almost two years ago - now I'm home with my own NxStage, and here all the time!

I think I did a google search too and found it.

A few years back I did a search for dialsyis and came across a few yahoo groups.  One you had to send in personal information to join (no offense - but no thanks) and another I actually did join, but was highly criticized for still having a permacath so I was completely turned off from any online discussion groups about dialysis.

Something told me a few months later to try one more time and I did another search and came across this site..... and wasnt judged!!  :)   :cuddle;  So glad I found this place and I have learned sooo much!    :clap;

I believe I typed in "living with dialysis" on Yahoo search.  And  since I'm not looking forward to dialysis and I just hate the thought of it, I just had to check it out. What a pleasant surprise it was!  :2thumbsup;

I found this board whilst looking for all the information I could get on ESRF. And from what I have read, THIS is the best place to come.

When I was told that my long lived transplant was now failing, I came home upset and did a Google search of...."i hate dialysis" since that was how I felt.  Lo and behold, so did all these fine people here.  There was no internet the first time around for me and this is a great spot to retreat to.

When my doctor told me I would be looking at dialysis within 6-8 months, and having to be off work because of those nasty symptoms we are so familiar with I started surfing and using every search engines I could looking for answers to my questions and I found IHD.

I've genuinely no recollection - just a random search for something about dialysis for Dad I suppose - and serendipity took over  :2thumbsup;
