I had asked all active members (regular posters) to please reply to this thread to acknowledge they have read the thread, however I see many "regulars" posting elsewhere on the forum and disregarding this thread. Please, once again if you read this thread and understand it please acknowledge by replying here. If you have the time to reply to other threads you have time to reply to this thread. This is not optional I need all "regulars" to reply here. If you have replied here already thank you. If not please do so now.

I have read and understand the importance of using spell check and proof reading.  That is only evidence of education and having respect for yourself and others.

Trying to remember what I wrote, word-for-word, before being timed out and losing everything....

So, O.K.        1: I missed an 'e' out for referenced thru (sorry that should be through) typing too
(note everyone there are to 'o's in the quantifier 'too')  fast
                    2: I guess you didn't like '&" - a common abbreviation for 'and'  and '=ly' for equally
3: or perhaps '@' for at, but everyone knows that's what it is, as it _is_ in all our
                       e-mail addresses!
4: I dislike the youngsters' use of 'super-crunched' text on their mobiles, but commonly
used 'computer speak' stuff I thought would've been O.K. (sorry I mean all correct)

I would _never_ front up on a site/bulletinboard/whatever and make my very first posting a criticism
of other people's grammar/spelling/syntax as our 'friend' did above, especially a site visited by sick
people whom one could expect to give a little more leeway to! O.K., so some posts are a little difficult
to decipher and others are full of spelling errors, but I'll live with that, rather than alienate posters. :o

My spelling is fine thanx (oops I mean thanks), any errors are usually typos (so shoot me!), and I
never use spellchecker as I'd only get the American version anyway. Having my English 'corrected'
by it is a total insult !  ;)

O.K. Ep' delete my posts if you want - after all it _is_ your site. I'll simply go into background lurk mode :-*
I must say though, I'm surprised you let this cheeky clown influence you enough to install this thread. ::)

See ya mate!

((Obviously as a senile old fool, I got confused, but for some reason I thought Odin had made a complaint
and Epoman's creation of this thread was in response to that. RE-reading it all, yet again, I can see that is
not the case. I stand corrected))

...and exactly _why_ would it be "the worst" post ever, Ep' ?
An analysis point by point if you like.

I rather fail to see why it denotes "total lack of respect for myself and this site",
as I rather expected a friendly, helpful, easy-going group here, which is how I approached it.
I have to say, I do like the idea that the site will continue and our posts still sitting here on
it, after we current mob have all expired. However, we are individuals, with flaws. I'd like to
think our characters show through, at least a bit, and I am quite willing to have a warts'n'all
version of mine visible on here.

...and I was rather interested, reading back through the thread to see my fellow
Australian Tamara referred to as a "smart ass" - which should really be "smart arse"
by the way, denoting 'bottoms', rather than beasts of burden.
Babi68 is still around, but I think you also scared off Mel. The 'bye and good luck'
on her 2nd posting on her INtro thread seemed to indicate she was gone...I sent
her a direct post encouraging her to stick around, but got no reply. Shame really, as
another 'mature-age' surfer not too far away, I thought we might've met up sometime.
Oh well, we move on.

...we seem to be having an affirmation on this thread, of the belief by many of us
'outsiders' that U.S.A citizens are somewhat too 'P.C.' for their own good.
...anyway, over to you
(  possibly my last post here?  :o  ...and I was beginning to feel 'at home'  :-\ )

No one likes "criticism."  But, constructive "criticism" is a little different.  That is when someone offers to HELP you do something you are poor at.

THUS........ Spell Check was born.

Epoman knows no one is perfect, so he put a spell check button at the bottom of each post.

I appreciate it.  I don't like to look like an idiot!   ;)

NO I didn't scare off "Mel" I banned her. But getting back to you, here is the situation, if you wish to remain a member here you must follow some basic rules just like everything in life there are guidelines to follow. I do not believe it is too much to ask that members double check their posts for typos and spacing mistakes. I put alot of work and time in this site and I provide this site for FREE to anyone and I pay for it out of my own pocket, and all I ask is that the members have pride in their posts. I value you as a member as I do all my members and I welcome you to stay and continue posting here for as long as you wish. All I ask in return is that you respect my wishes. If you feel that my request is to unreasonable then I hope you enjoyed your stay here.

NO I didn't scare off "Mel" I banned her.

You banned Mel? That's ridiculous. I just went back and read all of her posts, and an absolute site ban is pretty extreme. Yes I understand the sacrifices you have made for this site, such as hard work and monetary values, however I do not believe that this gives you the right to ban someone from the site because they may not think the exact same ways as you. I also do not think that you should be so hard on others for their grammar or modes of communicating especially in the cases of "non-North Americans". Yes i think that those who are just lazy, and do not double check what they have written should show a little respect, and some pride. But I do not think that you should be so harsh on someone who has an entirely different dialect, even though they speak the same language as you. You said that Bear's last post was the "worst ever". I do not see how it was the worst post ever. I understood everything he said. It may not have been the way I would have said it, but I'm sure that if he was speaking out loud in real life, the ways that we would say things would be completely different. I know that you put copious amounts of time and effort into this site, and we all greatly appreciate it, however I think you should also show some gratitude and respect to your members, especially the ones who post on a regular basis, as if it were not for them, this site would be just a pretty webpage without an excellent message. I hope that I have not come off as disrespectful, as I give you nothing BUT my utmost respect, but I just wish that you would be a little more "liberal" towards some of your frequent "posters" and try not to be so stern as to not scare away future members/contributors.

I did not ban "Mel" because of her posts here, I banned "Mel" because of the last "Nasty" email she sent me. So you do not know the whole story of WHY I banned her. Her and I exchanged several emails. Also I am not concerned the WAY someone speaks IT HAS NOTHING to do with that, it has to do with TYPOS and FORMAT. Again I will say it has NOTHING to do with dialect. As for being more liberal to the regular posters well I can't do that since they are the ones setting the example for the site and for any future members. I have NO idea where you got the idea that I was speaking against NON-Americans, This is about taking your time to post and correcting mistakes, I'm not asking to you to be perfect. But EVERY human can type proper or at least try regardless of where they are from. I thank you for making a calm/rational post and I hope this has cleared up what I am looking for and why I had banned "Mel". Finally, I do respect my members and I cherish my "regular" posters and I try to make this a nice community, all I ask from my regular posters is to do one little thing and that's lets make this site great by limiting the number of typos and formating mistakes.

I don't know if you guys have noticed, but you can "modify" your posts.  There are some bars on the upper right hand corner of your post.  If you hit "modify" you can correct errors.  So, don't think that when you hit "post", that it is set in stone.  It can be corrected.  ;)

Oh _I've_ seen them. Sometimes it's the third re-redit before I'm happy with it.
Being 'happy with it' doesn't mean there might not still be an error there. ;)

Only just seen this post Epoman (Oman) by Spell Check.

I do agree with what you are saying Epoman, I know the "BUT" Spell Check is not always the answer even Spell Check can not recognize quite a few renal words, plus most of the tablets, medicines that we are on now. Plus we may have been on a few years ago.

I know sometimes I do type a bit fast, I always have, you do sometimes get a bit in front of yourself.  But as long as the person/patient it is meant for can read it. (I know not in the case of a link.) It is always typed from the heart with good intention.

Sorry for not posting before, had a little bit on my plate. Just can not get back into the swing of things until everything get sorted out.

I will be back to my normal un-witty self ;D

Kevno
Sorry about the un-witty not in Spell Check, not even in the Dictionary!
