How do you figure that?? I'm just asking, cuz I've found, at least in the US, that paying for dialysis as a visitor is so different from what medicare is charged. In Philly last week, I paid US$330 per treatment. Isn't medicare changed US$5000 per treatment?
That's all part of the medical billing game insurance companies play down here. You may be "charged" $5000, but Medicare "allows" only $200-ish, and that's what they pay. I guess that way they keep too many people from dialyzing outside of their normal centers.
As far as Americans going to tourist destinations, yeah, they're gonna soak you for as much money as they can. If it costs $1000/treatment on a cruise ship, they will be charging something similar. Your Canadian Provincial insurance might cover some of it, though.
