It’s a bad idea to try to warm up by increasing the dialysate temp. It shouldn’t exceed your body temp minus 0.5 C or you risk brain injury. They run me at 36C.

I've always had my temp on 37.5' when it isn't tropical outside, and hasn't done me any harm so far.
I've read research that low dialysate temps are supposed to be better, but I've noticed no difference in clearance etc when I do my bloods with different temps.

I won't go higher than 37.5 though.

If you can afford it, a battery powered heated vest can help......They’re kind of pricey, I got mine on sale for $100, but it works.

You can get them a lot cheaper than that. I got mine from an expensive store and it cost about the equivalent of $30.

Many thanks from Kristina. :grouphug;

I was told that 37 is the same as 98.6F so it is normal temp. Much higher and it could fool your body into thinking you have a fever and cause an increase in the production of white blood cells.

If you are cold buy the hand warmers skiers use.  Good prices online.  I put one on my core area/chest and enjoy being warm for quite awhile when at dialysis.

My dialysate temp is kept at 35.5C, even though my body temp is normally about a degree above that. It's done because my bp runs low when I'm on the machine, and he cooler blood restricts the blood vessels, and can raise bp.  The down side of that is that it takes 3 hours to warm back up when I get home

Interesting article SD I like that more and more reports come out with 'near conclusions' that patiens are individuals with individual reactions, individual needs and individual outcomes too. Not before time I might add.
