I'd like to suggest at some point we come up with a mobile compatible theme.  As most of our users are in dialysis centers I'm sure many also use phones to view the site, its hard to read and post using the phone (for me) since the site displays like it would on the desktop and thus you can not see the entire text in both reading mode and also when writing a response.  A mobile compatible screen would reformat the view so everything fits on screen when using a smaller screen. Here are some discussions on compatible SMF themes:
https://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?topic=552969.0
https://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?topic=552885.0

Also it would be nice to "like" functionality built in so we can indicate we enjoy someone's contribution without needing to quote the post (not related to Facebook).  Here is a post on another forum where I describe with screenshots what I'm talking about:
http://www.donrockwell.com/topic/18932-i-want-our-community-back/?tab=comments#comment-219060
I think its possible via the mod for SMF here:
http://custom.simplemachines.org/mods/index.php?mod=3708
If you would prefer a version with support I'd be happy to contribute the cost of a paid version like:

I think this is a great idea!  I have a hard time navigating this site on my phone, as well.

I  have asked our resident computer and hosting geek guy and he says it is possible to do it.
I have a few questions for him to answer, then we shall see.
Please be patient while we look into it all.

Kitkatz has authorized install of a mobile theme.  I'm somewhat busy this week, and want to do it when I know I will have time to address any problems that come up during the install.

I plan on doing the work next week, and unless someone suggests something better, I'm going with http://smfmobiletheme.com

I was wondering how long it would take someone to notice.   Took close to 10 minutes to install last night.

I'm not sure I understand.  I know you were aiming for the green version of the mobile-ready theme.  I don't use a phone for viewing, so the way I can simulate that is to shrink my laptop viewport to mimic a phone-sized screen.  When I do that I don't see the simple green-based theme.  I just see a much narrower version of the full-sized text.  Am I missing something very obvious?

At the bottom of this page, click the link for "Mobile View" that will show you the mobile view in a desktop.  Then when done click back on Desktop View.  It only really matters for people reading it on the phone.  It does things like make the area where you type replies scale to the size of the window on the phone so you can see what you are writing without having to move around the page.  Also for reading it sales to the size of the screen rather than again having to move/scroll around the screen to see the content.

Also we were shooting for the mobile version, not specifically asking for the green, but we will take it.

Iolaire nailed it.    Unless you click on that link, the forum software sill choose the theme by the "browser agent" you are running (Mozilla, Chrome, Android, etc.).   Shrinking the screen size will not trick the system into thinking you are on a phone.

If you want a different color, convince Kitkatz to pick one and I will make the change.

To see the default colors available with no custom design work needed visit https://smfmobiletheme.com/ and scroll down to the area with the header "A color for each website!" which shows all the per built color themes.  I personally like the "water" and "mint" themes better than the current Aloe theme, or a custom setting based on the existing blue/grayish blue desktop theme, but over all I'm not that concerned about the colors.

The theme itself is a big improvement for writing posts on a small device and reading as well...

Ever so once and a while I accidently click desktop view on my phone and its hell for me to find documentation on how to flip back to mobile.  Here is my note on how to do that, append &mobile to the URL, i.e.:
Mobile:
http://ihatedialysis.com/forum/index.php?action=unread&mobile
Non Mobile:
http://ihatedialysis.com/forum/index.php?action=unread&nomobile

That sets the cookie back.  It would be nice to have a link to mobile on the non mobile page. But less important as I've added this not to myself.
