Delicious but pretty high on Phosphorus, not too bad on K+.
Gather 500 gr green split peas (soaked overnight, and rinsed well, ignore instructions on the packet)
some pork or chicken (if carnivore, not necessary) 200 gr.,
some chopped onions, a garlic clove, some chopped leeks, a tomato.
a stock cube, some pepper (fresh, or white or black pepper corns or cayenne),
Half medium sized celeriac, cubed
A smoked sausage sliced
Heat some butter or oil in a large pan.
Fry the meat, a bit brown on not too high temp, so you have time to chop all the vegs. Throw in the peas, at least a liter of boiling water, and all the vegs, and ingredients. Bring back to a simmer, and leave for an hour, probably a bit more till you're happy with the consistency. Stir regularly as it can burn. Add more hot water/stock if you like that. Add the sliced smoked sausage. Season with pepper.
Sometimes I add some carrots, or chopped parsley or celery. Some extra sliced leek the last 5 mins is nice too.
To be eaten with binders

The things that flash through my mind.
You COUNTED 500 peas? Til I remembered unlike the rest of the world, here in America we still use pounds for weight.
This morning a little news blurb about the inventor of the Celsius thermometer, and the other guy that developed the F scale that I cannot spell. How the U.S.A. is still way behind the rest of the world and has not adopted fully the metric systems.
I love split pea soup. I always add carrots. Not just for the contrasting color but they add a touch of sweetness to the blend.
Smoked sausage is another great addition.
I wonder if I can toss it all in the crock pot a minute after she heads out the door to school one morning, have it done before she gets home. She can't say "Mo' then.
It is so much easier to ask for forgiveness than permission.

Or a bean counter.
(Cas wrote "500g" of peas, so 500 grams is roughly 1 pound)

Mmmm... I love a good pea soup. I agree with Charlie... adding carrots does add a nice little extra sweetness to break up the pea flavor. Good way to use up that homemade turkey stock I made from the Turkey bones leftover from Thanksgiving. Maybe track down some of that low sodium bacon I found at Publix to crumble a piece on top for a real treat. Mmmmmm....
