Just an fyi: Not all tonic water contains quinine. The tonic water I use is a bottled generic that actually says "very low sodium, contains quinine" on the label. It can be found in grocery stores down the beer & wine aisle alongside the mixers. When needed, I drink very little of it and as a last resort because altho it relieves muscle cramps, it nauseates me. But it works quite quickly within minutes if not seconds.

He went back to doing in-center July 2016.
After more than 150 days of being hospitalized with complications from Diabetes, my beloved husband's heart stopped and he passed away 06-08-21. He was only 63.

I'd also zoom in on your magnesium levels K&S. I do know a kidney organ patient who has always been deficient in magnesium & it's always lead to symptoms of cramping. Just a thought.

And you do know what's great for increasing your magnesium levels apparently? Chocolate!

Ah! too bad.  No chocolate for me!  My magnesium tests out OK in my usual blood work, but I do understand there is blood magnesium and serum magnesium and I don't know which is tested.

You CAN have chocolate.  You just have to remember that 'All things in moderation' thing.   One bite is one thing.   The whole chicken is too kinky!

I too have to wonder about the magnesium.  I specifically asked one of my Dr's and he showed me my latest labs did test for mag, it was well within range.

I suspect labs only test available mag within the blood.   I would expect in order to test for absorbed mag within cells of tissue they would have to takek some sort of tissue samplel, not just blood.   They have not done that to me.

I do have a bone density scan scheduled for next week.  I am curious if/how my now sedentary lifestyle has made any changes.

I think every person reacts differently given the same medication.

I am über sensitive and try to solve problems with non-medication.

In my case, I eat sweet & salty coffee candies during dialysis. If it occurs outside of dialysis, I would take a pinch of salt, gargle with ice water, swallow it, then chew a piece of gum.

I recently bought a jar of "sandwich" pickles and have one thin slice/day.  I haven't had a cramp since starting this.  Of course, this is just anecdotal "evidence."  And it remains to be seen if it continues to help.

Wife and I really like the Bread and Butter Dills.  A jar doesn't last long.   I found a big jar so of course I bought it.  Neither of us have hardly touched it.

Funny how that is.  Sort of like bread.   She buys a single loaf we eat it right up.  She buys two loafs, they both sit until moldy and we feed it to the neighbors chickens.

I think there must be something wrong with us.
