Finding a donor:
I used glass chalk to write on our car’s window, “Daughter needs kidney, type O” and included our email. I had seen other people do this, and figured since we have 10 million people in Los Angeles, and everyone is on the freeway, it might be worth trying.
On Sunday we drove out to Santa Monica and when we were heading home, a young woman took a photo of the sign and tweeted it with the words, “This honestly needs to go viral.”
Within a couple of hours it had been retweeted over 7,000 times! Emails began to come into gmail, one every few seconds. By Tues. morning activity had dropped off, but then NBC News Los Angeles offered to do a story about what had happened. The story was filmed on Wed. afternoon and was broadcast that evening. On Thursday the Daily Mail and NBC San Diego had also shared the story.
All because of a little tweet! Jenna's email is loaded with prayers, encouragement, experiences and even some kidney offers! AMAZING!
Keep trying new things. It spreads awareness, and you never know where your miracle will come from.

I cannot believe how long it's been since I updated Jenna's story. Over the last 15 months since that car sign brought the news coverage, more than 65 people tested for Jenna, but because she has 100% antibodies, finding a match has been impossible. I will make a new post about what's happening now.

I hope your daughter Jenna is doing well and closer to getting a new kidney. That's great that 65 people offered. Knowing this helps to restore my faith in humanity. People do want to be united to help one another.  :grouphug;

Yes, we have been lucky with the generosity of strangers. Just the damn antibodies making a match nearly impossible.The amazing thing is that some of the donors did not give up, and went on to donate as non-directed or found a recipient. That makes us really happy, that there's a good outcome for somebody! There truly are some incredible people in the world!
