Life is like a box of chocolates. Enjoy each bite

« on: October 16, 2014, 05:37:17 AM »

Had av fistula created yesterday!  Felt thrill before even left hospital can't help but keep feeling it.   YIPPIE!  My arm looks like blue berry hill.  Can't get Fats Domino's song out of my head!  Arm is finally warming up from incision down - it is in the "bend" of elbow right arm.  Hand is still cool.  Once nerve block ended - ache and throb took over. Sounds like a making of a song there.  Taking 325 mg hydrocodone (sorta works).  The drugs for surgery really made some GREAT dreams!  I was at the beach in a cozy beach chair - warm breezes - waves gently rolling (peaceful) and thought there was a taco stand nearby and wondered if they had fish tacos.  Guess I was hungry.  Then I had to wake up in recovery area and thought well Sh*t I wasn't at the beach afterall.  What a bummer.  But I really wanted to continue that dream :(!!!

Going through life tied to a chair!

Sounds like they put you out and then they had lunch!  LOL

Glad you are doing well.  Ask if you should squeeze a rubber ball in a couple of weeks to help your fistula mature.

I ve had my fistula almost 4 years now and I still smile every time I lift my arm up and I feel the blood run out and watch it shrink.  No one told me about fun with fistulas.
