The manager decided to close the center today.  Not a water issue because they tell you if that is the cause.  I asked why but they said it was the managers decision and they will call to relocate or just go friday and go to ER if I feel bad.  Don't I have a right to know why it's closed or not?  What could possibly be going on for them to be closed?  Makes no sense...
Thank God I feel fine and know how to keep it light till Friday.

You have a right to know. It's YOUR health.  I would go to the next level to inquire, if you can find someone to ask why.

They have an obligation to treat you. They made a commitmaent to do 3 times per week dialysis when they took over your care. If any damage is done by this you have a lawsuit.  Telling you to go to the ER is garbage, pure and simple.   they are not fullfilling their duty to you as provider.  They are liable for any damages. I would file a complaint if you cant get answers.

WTH? They can't do that. Can they? Yeah, I know, they ARE doing it. Last week everyone at Frank's center got sent home because there was something wrong with the dialysate tank or something. They all got dialyzed thier full sessions later that day, even though it meant all the staff worked late. But that doesnt sound like the case here. It sounds like the center mgr just didnt want to come to work. At the very least they owe an explanation.

Definately report to your Network.  I can understand if there is a problem but not without providing an explanation.

I’m hoping that he did not close the center to be spiteful. He just didn’t want to scare the patients to what’s going on.  Anyhoo, regardless of the issue, someone should let the patients know that the center is close because….  Not just say go to the ER or find another place to D if you are not feeling well.  This is very poor business management.  I will go over his head.  Knowing me, I will exaggerate a whole lot and get him in trouble.  Than feel bad for over doing it.  Not for nothing but I would start looking for another center. What if this happens again?  Lucky, it was not on a Monday.  Some center’s staff has no patient or sensitive skills at all.

Dailysis patient for since 1999 and still kicking it strong.  I was called for a transplant but could not get it due to damage veins from extremely high blood pressure.  Have it under control now, on NxStage System but will receive dailysis for the rest of my life.  Does life sucks because of this.  ABOLUTELY NOT!  Life is what you make it good, bad, sick, or healthy.  Praise God I'm still functioning as a normal person just have to take extra steps.

UPDATE:  they finally called me in at 12:00 pm. yesterday.  Asked one tech what the problem was and she told me they called her to not come in and then called her back later to work, but didn't tell her why either.  I will ask the manager on Friday and see if she will tell me or not.

I'm glad you got dialysis but the whole thing is unacceptable. Call the network. Something must have been really really wrong that they're trying to cover up.

The manager came up to me yesterday and she told me the reason they closed was because the cleaning waxed the floors with 5 coats of wax when they normally do this on weekends.  The whole place smelled so bad she said they couldn't let anyone in the place until they got it aired out.  Not buying it!

I would say to anonymously report it but if you are the only one asking about it they might be able to figure out who did it.

They are always shiny, but 5 coats of wax?  People would end up on their butts right?

I do have to say I place I worked at had the building they bought painted and the fumes were so bad.  For weeks my kidney swelled and hurt, had to wash my clothes every day when I got home because they stunk soooo bad.  Never in my life have I smelled anything so bad.  I still feel this is why I lost my transplant last yr.  Nothing I could do about it because being switched to part (economy) which made me lose my insurance.  So it is what it is, no way to know for sure with out prior testing.  But I know in my heart that is why.  Geez, the boss (mega bucks) wouldn't even go get a air cleaner. Cheap a$$...........
