You know what? If I would have had one of these Villas available when I was doing in center dialysis, I would have jumped on it in a heartbeat and made no apologies for doing so.  For the obscene amount of money that my company was paying out (we self insure) it might as well have gotten something for its money.

Here are pictures of the interior of the Villa in Fairview Park, OH.  It looks a lot nicer than the "regular" DaVita facilities.

It's real but obviously not widespread. I don't know how long they've been around. To me, OH and MO are odd places to start this. New Yorkers are very used to paying extra for good service.

I found some more pictures.  The first one is a DaVita for the "average patient":

http://www.vorca.com/prod/urbanspartition3/Articles/Medical/DialysisFacilitiesSUB/DavitaatHomeLouisville.html

Here are photos of the facilities for the "discriminating patient":

http://www.vorca.com/prod/urbanspartition3/Articles/Medical/DialysisFacilitiesSUB/VillaofLakewood.html

http://www.vorca.com/prod/urbanspartition3/Articles/Medical/DialysisFacilitiesSUB/VillaofNorthRidgeville.html

Has anyone been able to determine the membership fees?  What would you be willing to pay to be a member of the Villa?  Does the Specialty Beverage Center include alcohol?!! And most importantly, how flexible is that flexible scheduling?

I also found this article from 2010:

Dialysis patients being offered spa-like experience at this Villa: A Place in the Sun
By Carol Kovach, Sun News
on January 21, 2010 at 12:10 PM, updated January 21, 2010 at 12:12 PM

Kidney dialysis is a topic that may not excite too many people, but for those affected by kidney disease, it can be a matter of life and death.

A new facility catering to dialysis patients will have its grand opening on Tuesday in Fairview Park.

Villa of Fairview Park by DaVita will unveil its new, spa-like location 3-7 p.m. Tuesday at 19050 Lorain Road. It is one of four centers slated for Greater Cleveland. The North Olmsted (Great Northern) location is open. Facilities will open soon in Lakewood and North Ridgeville.

The new facility it not a stereotypical dialysis operation. One of the biggest benefits is flexible scheduling. The center will work with patients to find a time for their treatment, said Melissa M. Plute, villa coordinator.

It also uses a boutique concept with smaller units, about six to eight chairs, compared to 20-30 in some of the older units. There are themes, such as Zen, traditional, rustic and urban. A full-time concierge can assist patients with personal errands like dry cleaning, car maintenance, etc. Local vendors will assist with these service requests. There is a membership fee to participate in Villa by DaVita.

During Tuesday’s open house, a local chef will prepare “renal friendly” food and drinks and a harpist will play. Local public officials, business owners, nephrologists from area hospitals, patients, family, friends and other interested people are invited to tour the facility.

Why do they include pictures of the toilet for the villas? That's just weird.

we have a "beverage area" but it's more like a pantry.  There's coffee, tea, juice, and ginger ale.  There's an ice machine, and cookies.  We did have a toaster too, but they removed it, saying that the people who ate toast were eating too much and their bp was dropping.  We also have warm blankets, and tvs.  We also have the same kind of flexible scheduling, meaning that if your schedule needs to change, they will usually accommodate you, as long as you give them advance notice.  A couple of nurses once stayed late so I could show up 2 hours late after going out of province for a friend's funeral.  Now, if we only had wifi..

Really, that is news to me.  When I was at Davita and I was a home dialysis patient, my treatment was five hours.  Anytime, I need to run at the center, I was told to hurry, that "Your treatment is just too long."  I am so glad I left those jerks.  When I was at Davita, there was no fluid anywhere....  Advance notice, that does not seem unreasonable to me.  Eating too much toast???  Are we adults or children?  "Deustchland Uber Alles!!!!"  Yes, my family is from Germany.  DaVita is filled with goose stepping Nazis.

My wife and I live in Maine. We do Nxstage at home . THIS IS OUR VILLA.
OUR VILLA______-------
Dialysis here is done in the comfort of our high beamed wood ceiling living room with a view of the deep woods of maine.
WE offer a glass front heated woodstove fire in the winter and cool maine air in the summer. There are apple and peach orchards surrounding the "facility" that are fertilized by the dialysate from our machine . this is true "green " recycling here at our "facility"
In addition we offer a full refridgerater of cold drinks, warm food , and your choice of TWO bathrooms.  We offer a treadmill for exercise after dialysis , a full cable TV with ALL pay movie channels except playboy.  Concierge service is available for a small fee that can be negotiated .
We also offer in house laundry facility, internet , and wild animals that visit such as foxes, deer, moose and local residents.
Come visit our VILLA and you will never want to go in center again .

Oh, we are also good at dialing 911 in emergencies.
