Exercise (walking) and working after PD catheter insertion

My PD catheter is being installed on Thursday morning. Will I be able to work on Friday? I work from home most of the time. Will I be able to go walking with friends Saturday/Sunday? We usually walk about 3.5 miles each day. They mailed me the full set of instructions, but I'm not home so I haen't seen it yet. The told me about the 5 pound lifting limit over the phone. That will be very hard to stick to.

It all depends on how good your surgeon is and how well you respond to that sort of thing. I could have gone to work and/or walked that far the day after I've had mine put in, but I take surgery as a free pass to stay home for a couple of days, laze around with movies, and enjoy the painkillers.

Oh, and do try to stick to the weight limit. I'm about to have my second umbilical hernia repair done due to lifting too much on PD. I don't mind the surgery, but I'm having to do hemo clinic in the meanwhile and the boredom of sitting in that chair listening to those alarms going off is making me ready to blow my brains out.

Thanks for the warning about the lifting limits. I was already thinking about how far I could push it. My dogs weigh 12 pounds each and one of them is used to being picked up. My Now that I understand the reason, I'll stick to it.
