Since I wasn't being responsible about taking my Calcium Acetate--aka Phoslo--to control my phosphorous (I was prescribed 4-5 pills/meal and hated consuming around 20-25 a day in addition to my other meds), my nurse suggested that I look into an oral version. I discussed the idea with my dietitian and she gave me samples of Phoslyra. I love it!!!
I just take a 20 ml gulp and I'm done. It tastes like cough syrup, but I don't mind. It is so much better than trying to swallow all those pills every time that I eat and risking the occasional "explosion" of the pill(s) in my throat.
Anyway, I was wondering if others have used this and had any side effects, thoughts, or suggestions. My sole issue is with portability and my dietitian said that she'll give me some small bottles to use to carry it around.
I wish all my meds were this palatable.
