God's Action Figure

WWW
« on: November 20, 2006, 10:08:06 PM »

I was on the air today and introduced the song, "If You're Going Through Hell (Before the Devil Even Knows Your Name)"  It's still in rotation after being a former #1 single for two weeks, but I always introduce it as my Dialysis theme song.

Here's a sample of the first set of lyrics:

Well you know those times
When you feel like there's a sign there on your back
Say's I don't mind if ya kick me
Seems like everybody has
Things go from bad to worse
You'd think they can't get worse than that
And then they do

You step off the straight and narrow
And you don't know where you are
Use the needle of your compass
To sew up your broken heart
Ask directions from a genie
In a bottle of Jim Beam
And she lies to You
That's when you learn the truth

If you're going through hell
Keep on going, Don't slow down
If you're scared, don't show it
You might get out
Before the devil even knows you're there

So what do you consider YOUR Dialyisis Theme Song?

This has been my personal theme song for a while ... I Hope You Dance - Lee Ann Womack
I hope you never lose your sense of wonder
You get your fill to eat
But always keep that hunger
May you never take one single breath for granted
God forbid love ever leave you empty handed
I hope you still feel small
When you stand by the ocean
Whenever one door closes, I hope one more opens
Promise me you'll give faith a fighting chance

And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance
I hope you dance
I hope you dance

But right now ... Bad Day - Daniel Powter also gets me because I get to scream about having a bad day :-)

Because you had a bad day
You're taking one down
You sing a sad song just to turn it around

You can here this one on his myspace page  Daniel Powter
;musicalnote; :yahoo; ;musicalnote;
Everybody dance!

I have used that song "When you are going through hell"  this year as my personal theme song.  It has gotten me through the worst of it all this year.  I hope that singer knows how much that song has helped people.  I just held my head up when things got really bad around here and sang that song everytime it came on the radio!  I even looked up the lyrics and have them on the computer so I can go back and read them when I needed to!

I also love "I hope you dance".  I always think about my kids when I hear that song.

My theme song for a while was "When I get where I am going."  Now I am looking for a new  song to use.  Sometimes I just use Devo's "Whip it." Lol.

Here's my latest favorite - (Thanks to Fox for helping me with finding the lyrics!)  It's by Smash Mouth

I get to the party, but I'm too late
and I got stood up, on my very first date
I listen to country, and everybody goes rock
I get to the dance floor, that's when the music stops
it doesn't matter what I do, I just can't seem to win
but here I go again, and I say...

[chorus]
hey, that's the story of my life, I had a good plan but it didn't go right
oh no, I'm overdrawn, I check my account and the money's all gone
why me, I don't know what to think, I finally get aboard and the whole boat sinks
seems to be the story of my life

I pick a slot machine, and lose it all again
but when I walk away, someone else always wins
she finally calls me, I forget my phone
and when I'm starving, you know the kitchen's closed
it doesn't matter what I try, it all ends up the same
and here I go again, and I say...

[chorus]
hey, that's the story of my life, I had a good plan but it didn't go right
oh no, I'm overdrawn, I check my account and the money's all gone
why me, I don't know what to think, I finally get aboard and the whole boat sinks
seems to be the story of my life

just when it seems like it's turned around for me
there's always something that ends up happening
I found my car, but I can't find my keys

I get to the party a little too late
and once again, the music starts to play

[chorus]
hey, that's the story of my life, I had a good plan but it didn't go right
oh no, I'm overdrawn, I check my account and the money's all gone
why me, I don't know what to think, I finally get aboard and the whole boat sinks
seems to be the story of my life

the story of my life
the story of my life
that's the story of my life
that's the story of my life

In college, my roomies and I had  "Under Pressure" By Queen and David Bowie for our theme song.  That one still works these days, too!

This is my song right now.  A co-worker says whenever she hears this song she thinks of me.  ::)

Gnarls Barkley
Crazy

I remember when, I remember, I remember when I lost my mind
There was something so pleasant about that phase.
Even your emotions had to let go
In so much space

And when you're out there
Without care,
Yeah, I was out of touch
But it wasn't because I didn't know enough
I just knew too much

Does that make me crazy
Does that make me crazy
Does that make me crazy
Probably

And I hope that you are having the time of your life
But think twice, that's my only advice
Come on now, who do you, who do you, who do you, who do you think you are,
Ha ha ha bless your soul
You really think your'e in control

Well, I think you're crazy
I think you're crazy
I think you're crazy
Just like me

My heroes had the heart to lose their lives out on a limb
And all I remember is thinking, I want to be like them
Ever since I was little, ever since I was little it looked like fun
And it's no coincidence I've come
And I can die when I'm done

Maybe I'm crazy
Maybe you're crazy
Maybe we're crazy
Probably

Here's my latest favorite - (Thanks to Fox for helping me with finding the lyrics!)  It's by Smash Mouth
sometimes I think that is mine as well :P

I don't really have one but I did a search and maybe this one:

DANIEL POWTER - GIVE ME LIFE

Right directions, I got problems with your friends
understand my point of view
and I'm not bothered I break before I bend
give me life, give me life, for what I do.

I can't remember and everything the same
and what you think that I should be
you pushed me backwards, I played the stupid game
give me life, give me life, for what I say.

And the moment that you lose yourself
you wish that you were someone else
and the only thing that comes apart
to take respond from were we start.

Cause I got not excuse for the way I talk to you
but you don't compremise you nothing new
let's get together and see what we become
give me live, give mi live, for what I've done.

What's the answers
I fall between the cracks
I'll be happy when you sink
I was promised if you're through with us
give me life, give my life, for what I think.

And the moment that you lose yourself
you wished that you were someone else
and whatever else is going on,
everyone will know once your halfway go.

You got no excuses for the way you treated me
And I don't compremise to easily
let's stay together
to see what we've become
give me live, give me live, for what I've done.

Give me life, give me life, for what I do.
Give me life, give me life, for what I do.

He is the love of my life......

« Reply #6 on: November 21, 2006, 12:46:43 PM »

With all my everyday trials and tribulations there is one song that will get me through each and every day and that is Louis Armstrongs most beautiful song EVER!!!  What a Wonderful World...

I see trees of green, red roses too
I see them bloom for me and you
And I think to myself, what a wonderful world

I see skies of blue and clouds of white
The bright blessed day, the dark sacred night
And I think to myself, what a wonderful world

The colours of the rainbow, so pretty in the sky
Are also on the faces of people going by
I see friends shakin' hands, sayin' "How do you do?"
They're really saying "I love you"

I hear babies cryin', I watch them grow
They'll learn much more than I'll ever know
And I think to myself, what a wonderful world
Yes, I think to myself, what a wonderful world

 Oh yeah

I found my theme song!
Standing Outside The Fire
Written by: Garth Brooks, Jenny Yates

We call them cool
Those hearts that have no scars to show
The ones that never do let go
And risk the tables being turned

We call them fools
Who have to dance within the flame
Who chance the sorrow and the shame
That always comes with getting burned

But you've got to be tough when consumed by desire
'Cause it's not enough just to stand outside the fire

We call them strong
Those who can face this world alone
Who seem to get by on their own
Those who will never take the fall

We call them weak
Who are unable to resist
The slightest chance love might exist
And for that forsake it all

They're so hell-bent on giving ,walking a wire
Convinced it's not living if you stand outside the fire

Standing outside the fire
Standing outside the fire
Life is not tried, it is merely survived
If you're standing outside the fire

There's this love that is burning
Deep in my soul
Constantly yearning to get out of control
Wanting to fly higher and higher
I can't abide
Standing outside the fire

Standing outside the fire
Standing outside the fire
Life is not tried, it is merely survived
If you're standing outside the fire

Standing outside the fire
Standing outside the fire
Life is not tried, it is merely survived
If you're standing outside the fire

Hi, all. This song is not only my "dialysis" song...but my "life" song ... by Depeche Mode

"Walking In My Shoes"

I would tell you about the things,
They put me through.
The pain I've been subjected to.
But the Lord himself would blush.
The countless feasts laid at my feet,
Forbidden fruits for me to eat.
But I think your pulse would start to rush.
Now I'm not looking for absolution,
Or forgiveness for the things I do.
But before we come to any conclusions,
Try walking in my shoes.
Try walking in my shoes.

You'll stumble in my footsteps.
Keep the same appointments I've kept.
If you try walking in my shoes.
If you try walking in my shoes.

Morality would frown upon,
And decency look down upon,
The scapegoat fate's made of me.
But I'll tell you now, my judge and jurors.
Intentions couldn't have been purer.
My case is easy to see.

I'm not looking for a clearer conscience.
Peace of mind after what I've been through.
But before we talk of any repentance,
Try walking in my shoes.
Try walking in my shoes.

You'll stumble in my footsteps.
Keep the same appointments I've kept.
If you try walking in my shoes.
Try walking in my shoes.
Try walking in my shoes.

Now I'm not looking for the absolution,
Or forgiveness for the things I do.
But before you come to any conclusions.
Try walking in my shoes.
Try walking in my shoes.

You'll stumble in my footsteps.
Keep the same appointments I've kept.
If you try walking in my shoes.

You'll stumble in my footsteps.
Keep the same appointments I've kept.
If you try walking in my shoes.
Try walking in my shoes.
If you try walking in my shoes.

Bob Dylan's

Rainy Day Women #12 & 35

Well, they'll stone ya when you're trying to be so good,
They'll stone ya just a-like they said they would.
They'll stone ya when you're tryin' to go home.
Then they'll stone ya when you're there all alone.
But I would not feel so all alone,
Everybody must get stoned.

Well, they'll stone ya when you're walkin' 'long the street.
They'll stone ya when you're tryin' to keep your seat.
They'll stone ya when you're walkin' on the floor.
They'll stone ya when you're walkin' to the door.
But I would not feel so all alone,
Everybody must get stoned.

They'll stone ya when you're at the breakfast table.
They'll stone ya when you are young and able.
They'll stone ya when you're tryin' to make a buck.
They'll stone ya and then they'll say, "good luck."
Tell ya what, I would not feel so all alone,
Everybody must get stoned.

Well, they'll stone you and say that it's the end.
Then they'll stone you and then they'll come back again.
They'll stone you when you're riding in your car.
They'll stone you when you're playing your guitar.
Yes, but I would not feel so all alone,
Everybody must get stoned.

Well, they'll stone you when you walk all alone.
They'll stone you when you are walking home.
They'll stone you and then say you are brave.
They'll stone you when you are set down in your grave.
But I would not feel so all alone,
Everybody must get stoned.

I thought and thought and couldn't think of a theme song for my kidney.

So I wrote one.  Sing this to any county music..........

"I lost my kidney"
"I lost my dawg"
"I lost my Husband"
"and I lost my jawb"

CHORUS:

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

Repeat as many times as you want.

The End   8)

Here are the lyrics, Devlin's wife, to your theme song...

I can only imagine what it will be like
When I walk, by your side
I can only imagine what my eyes will see
when you face is before me
I can only imagine
I can only imagine

Surrounded by you glory
what will my heart feel
will i dance for you jesus
or in awe of you be still
will i stand in your presence
or to my knees will i fall
will i sing halleujiah
will i be able to speak at all
i can only imagine
i can only imagine
I can only imagine when that day comes
when i find myself standin inside
i can only imagine when all i would do is forever
forever worship you
i can only imagine
i can only imagine

surrounded by your glory
what will my heart feel
will i dance for you jesus
or in awe of you be still
will i stand in your presence
or to my knees will i fall
will i sing halleujiah
will i be able to speak at all
i can only imagine
i can only imagine hey ya ah

I'm still pre-dialysis, but "Someday I'll Be Saturday Night", by Jon Bon Jovi, has served me well lately, and I think it should carry over just fine when I am on dialysis.  I listen to it driving home from work each day, and the harder my day was, the louder I sing along - very therapeutic, although sometimes the people in the cars next to me look a little scared!

Some of the words go like this:

Hey, man, I'm alive
I'm takin' each day
And night at a time
I'm feelin' like a Monday
But someday I'll be Saturday night

And Tuesday just might go my way
It can't get worse than yesterday
Thursdays, Fridays ain't been kind
But somehow I'll survive

Hey, man, I'm alive
I'm takin' each day
And night at a time
Yeah, I'm down
But I know I'll get by

Hey hey hey
Hey, man, gotta live my life
Like I ain't got nothin'
But this roll of the dice
I'm feelin' like a Monday
But someday I'll be Saturday night

Now I can't say my name
Or tell you where I am
I want to roll myself away
Don't know if I can

I wish that I could be
In some other time and place
With someone else's soul
Someone else's face

Hey, man, I'm alive
I'm takin' each day
And night at a time
Yeah, I'm down
But I know I'll get by

Hey hey hey
Hey, man, gotta live my life
I'm gonna pick up all the pieces
And what's left of my pride
I'm feelin' like a Monday
But someday I'll be Saturday night

Some day I'll be Saturday night
I'll be back on my feet
I'll be doin' alright

It may not be tomorrow
Baby, that's okay
I ain't goin' down
Gonna find a way, hey hey hey

When I had my transplant I had a theme song.  I made a copy of this on a tape and sent it to my donor family through the transplant cordinator.

 Milsap Ronnie
What a Difference You've Made in My Life

What - a - difference you've made in my life
What a difference you've made in my life
You're my sunshine day-ay and ni-ight
Oh what a difference you've ma-a-ade in my li-iiife

What a change you have made in my heart
What a change you have made in my heart
You replaced all the bro-oken par-ar-arts
Oh what a change you have ma-a-ade in my hear-eart

Love to me was just a word in a song
That had been way over-used
But now I've joined in the singin'
'Cause you've shown me love's true meanin'
That's why I want to sprea-ead the new-ews

What a difference you've made in my life
What a difference you've made in my life
You're my sunshine day-ay and ni-ight
Oh what a difference you've ma-a-ade in my li-iiife

What a difference you've made in my life (listen to it)
What a difference you've made in my life
You're my sunshine day-ay and ni-i-i-ight
Oh what a difference you've ma-a-ade, yeah-eah

What a difference you've made in my li-ife
Difference you've made in my li-ife
What a difference you've made in my li-ife
You're my sunshine day-ay and ni-ight
Oh what a difference you've ma-a-ade

Go ahead and sing it

What a difference you've made in my life
What a difference you've made in my life, yeah-heah-eah-eah-heah
You're my sunshine day-ay and ni-ight
Oh yeah, sing it to me
What a difference you've ma-a-ade

What a difference you've made in my life, woh-oh-oh-oh
What a difference you've made in my-y-y-y life
You're my sunshine day-ay and ni-ight
Oh what a difference you've ma-a-ade
What a difference you've ma-a-ade, in my li-i-i-iiife-iiiiiii-hi-ife

Okay, I found my theme song, here it is:

Life Ain't Always Beautiful - Gary Allan

Life ain't always beautiful.
Sometimes it's just plain hard.
Life can knock you down,
It can break your heart.

Life ain't always beautiful:
You think you're on your way.
And it's just a dead end road,
At the end of the day.

But the struggles make you stronger,
And the changes make you wise.
And happiness has it's own way,
Of takin' it's sweet time.

No, life ain't always beautiful.
Tears will fall sometimes.
Life ain't always beautiful,
But it's a beautiful ride.

Life ain't always beautiful:
Some days, I miss your smile.
I get tired of walkin' all
These lonely miles.

And I wish for just one minute,
I could see your pretty face.
Guess I can dream,
But life don't work that way.

But the struggles make me stronger,
And the changes make me wise.
And happiness has it's own way,
Of takin' it's sweet time.

No, life ain't always beautiful.
But I know I'll be fine.
Hey, life ain't always beautiful,
But it's a beautiful ride.
What a beautiful ride.

That about sums it up for me now, life ain't always beautiful, but I know I'll be fine.

Sometimes the light’s all shinin’ on me;
Other times I can barely see.
Lately it occurs to me what a long, strange trip it’s been.

Lou Reed
Album: Magic And Loss
Title: Magic And Loss - The Summation
When you pass through the fire, you pass through humble
You pass through a maze of self doubt
When you pass through humble, the lights can blind you
Some people never figure that out

You pass through arrogance, you pass through hurt
You pass through an ever present past
And it's best not to wait for luck to save you
Pass through the fire to the light

Pass through the fire to the light
Pass through the fire to the light
It's best not to wait for luck to save you
Pass through the fire to the light

As you pass through the fire, your right hand waving
There are things you have to throw out
That caustic dread inside your head
Will never help you out

You have to be very strong, 'cause you'll start from zero
Over and over again

And as the smoke clears there's an all consuming fire
Lying straight ahead

Lying straight ahead
Lying straight ahead
As the smoke clears there's an all consuming fire
Lying straight ahead

They say no one person can do it all
But you want to in your head
But you can't be shakespeare and you can't be joyce
So what is left instead

You're stuck with yourself and a rage that can hurt you
You have to start at the beginning again
And just this moment this wonderful fire
Started up again

When you pass through humble, when you pass through sickly
When you pass through i'm better than you all
When you pass through anger and self deprecation
And have the strength to acknowledge it all

When the past makes you laugh and you can savor the magic
That let you survive your own war
You find that that fire is passion
And there's a door up ahead not a wall

As you pass through fire as you pass through fire
Trying to remember its name
When you pass through fire licking at your lips
You cannot remain the same

And if the building's burning move towards that door
But don't put the flames out
There's a bit of magic in everything
And then some loss to even things out

Some loss to even things out
Some loss to even things out
There's a bit of magic in everything
And then some loss to even things out

and

Album: All That You Can't Leave Behind
Title: Stuck in a Moment

I'm not afraid
Of anything in this world
There's nothing you can throw at me
That I haven't already heard

I'm just trying to find
A decent melody
A song that I can sing
In my own company

I never thought you were a fool
But darling look at you
You gotta stand up straight
Carry your own weight
These tears are going nowhere baby

You've got to get yourself together
You've got stuck in a moment
And now you can't get out of it

Don't say that later will be better
Now you're stuck in a moment
And you can't get out of it

I will not forsake
The colors that you bring
The nights you filled with fireworks
They left you with nothing

I am still enchanted
By the light you brought to me
I listen through your ears
Through your eyes I can see

And you are such a fool
To worry like you do
I know it's tough
And you can never get enough
Of what you don't really need now
My, oh my

You've got to get yourself together
You've got stuck in a moment
And you can't get out of it

Oh love, look at you now
You've got yourself stuck in a moment
And you can't get out of it

I was unconscious, half asleep
The water is warm 'til you discover how deep

I wasn't jumping, for me it was a fall
It's a long way down to nothing at all

You've got to get yourself together
You've got stuck in a moment
And you can't get out of it

Don't say that later will be better
Now you're stuck in a moment
And you can't get out of it

And if the night runs over
And if the day won't last
And if our way should falter
Along the stony pass

And if the night runs over
And if the day won't last
And if your way should falter
Along this stony pass

It's just a moment
This time will pass
