Moore OK got hit with a F4 tornado have to do dialysis tomorrow what i know my center has no electric the tornado hit about 3 to 4 miles away give or take they have closed the main highway in both directions. My Prob is I have no way to get to dialysis tomorrow what does one do can't drive through because of highway closeing and debree help

Be cool and wait until tomorrow to see what happens. Road crews have all night to clear things and your center has all night to activate its emergency plan. People plan for this stuff; it's part of their jobs. Did your center give you a folder of what to do in case of emergency? If so, look it over and see what they recommend.

My center (in Ohio) gave me a list of emergency numbers to call in case of a disaster.  It starts with the Red Cross.  You should have a number they are broadcasting in your area.  Tell them you are a dialysis patient and explain your situation,  they should be able to at least point you in the right direction.  I also have a special diet to follow, in case dialysis is delayed for several days.  There is paperwork in my emergency kit that explains my situation and has phone numbers for the center I end up dialyzing in to call.  It also contains a letter giving me permission to drive, even if the roads are closed to normal traffic.  If all else fails, I was told to call the nearest hospital that is not affected by the disaster and they would help me make arrangements for treatment.  Try to call your clinic, as they may have recorded a message giving instructions to patients.  Hope this helps. I am so sorry about the devastation your area has suffered. Praying for all involved!  The photos are just unbelievable.  So sad.

PKD diagnosis at 17
Cancer May 2011, surgery and no further treatment but placed on 2 year wait for transplant
October 2011 first fistula in left wrist
April 2012 second fistula in upper arm, disconnect of wrist
January 2013, stage 5 ESRD
March 2013 training with NxStage home hemo
April 2013 at home with NxStage
April 2013 fistula revision to reduce flow
May 2013 advised to have double nephrectomy, liver cyst ablation and hernia repair. Awaiting insurance approval to begin transplant testing. Surgery in June.
June 2013 bilateral nephrectomy.
August 2013 finishing testing for transplant, 4 potential donors being tissue typed.
January 2014 husband approved to donate kidney for me
March 4th 2014 received transplant from awesome hubby. Named the new bean FK (fat kidney) lol!  So far we are doing great!

I hope by now you have been able to reach your center and make arrangements for treatment.  I'm sorry this tragedy has come so close to you and hope all is well  with you other than making your D. treatments and transportation more difficult.

ok it was a interesting day at dialysis. do to a f5 tornado it is a mess here. I called the center this morning they were up and running with a generator and a big thing of water being pumped in to the unit. we all only got 2 hours of treatment today we have one pateint missing to day was told he lived at ground zero so hopfully he is ok and the main highway is open yeah for me  so we will see what the rest of the week holds

I'm very relieved to know you made it to dialysis.  I thought about it very time I heard news about the tornado yesterday. I hope your missing dialysis patient came through okay also.

That must have been really scary, having it hit so close to you. Glad you're OK. Also, it's good that your center had a generator and that you were able to get treatment.

By the way, it's been really nice to hear from you again.

yep was scary check out this pic of the day before the tornado hit more. This thing was rotating above my apartment sorry if to big please be sure to shrink it

Two words for that tornado picture: Holy Crap! 

My daughter is in Oklahoma city, living without water for a few days, but had power and gas.  SHe said it was truly scary.
