Okay, I am broke right now so I must make do without running to the pharmacy.  I am currently on dialysis.  I need to poo, like painful bad.  I know mira lax is the norm.  I have none and no funds at the moment.  I do have milk of magnesia.  Does anyone know if that is safe for us?  I have this issue alot.  The phosphorus binders do it to me.  Thanks and so sorry for the subject.... :sos; :waiting;

It won't work unless you drink extra water. I don't know if you can get away with that or not. Also, do you know if your magnesium level is too high or in range? I would recommend calling the nurse at the dialysis center. Do you have any fruit that would help like an apple? Or 10?

Prunes?  Raisins?  How about some sit ups or jogging?  Exercise can help things, too.

do not take milk of magnesia unless you have,checked with your dialysis nurse//neph.  too much magnesium can be dangerous.

Do not take Milk of Magnesia as I was told that by my Neph doc.  Can you afford some diet candy???????   eat a bag of that and you'll be in heaven!  Do the chocolate ones.
Got change laying around?

OH. MY. GOD.

No, no, no. I can guarantee you do NOT want to eat sugar-free chocolates. I mean, you just don't. At all.

You want to talk about embarrassing? I'll be blunt. Gas, and I mean fartfartfartfartFART. Not just regular farts, either. These ones will surround you and everyone around you with a noxious green cloud of stench that will not dissipate for a half-hour or more. I once stunk us completely out of the house eating those things. I'm serious, we actually had to flee outdoors and couldn't return for 45 minutes.

Not only that but I have no idea how they can be legally labeled as diet. They in some case have more carbs and calories than regular candy. Plus as you blurted out (sorry) the sorbitol , mannitol and other abominations  indeed will cause you to be horribly musical.

Don't be sorry. I think it would be far more impolite to her and society at large NOT to say something. It's like letting someone walk around all day with spinach between their front teeth. Delicacy keeps people from saying anything and then the poor soul is mortified when they discover it themselves.

 :rofl;
i like that, "Musical"
I play an entire overture after dialysis....dialysis always gives me gas...  "Something in the way, she moves me..."

seriously though, i know how frustrating this is, and i joke a lot about it but unfortunately i dont know any gooood ways to fix it. it seems if its not constipation its the other extreme, which is also no fun...

*LMAO*  I don't think I've laughed so hard in a long, long time.

What I do when I'm in that particular predicament is to have a cup of plain old tea.  The cheap stuff.  You might have to wait a couple of hours, but it does work things out.  There is something in it naturally that helps things move along

I should have said sugar free...not diet.  I have never had any gas problems nor have I ever heard of anyone else having them.  The neighbor told me she had to limit to 2 pieces after dinner or she'd be in the bathroom.   That's why I suggested but to each their own.
Hope you got relief with what ever you did.

He could be, CebuShan.. buthen, some people are just naturally talented.. *LMAO*

My brother, for instance.. a few years ago, we were at a Christmas party.  My brother and a friend of his had been drinking rather heavily, and were in the midst of a belching contest.  Bro was losing, so he leaned over to give a toot.  The friend's mother looked at Bro and said, "don't you dare."  Bro said, "why not? I'd win."

colace. rather pricey but there is a generic that walmart and safeway carry. for some reason, don't ask, got no clue safeway stocks the name brand on the aisle but you have to ask at the pharmacy counter for the generic. my neph told me if things were really bad i could take up to 4 at a time. when i first started i needed to take some every day.
