the flu or something? advice please?

i dont feel well at all.I am trying to wait it out until dialysis, thursday. I figure they would be able to tell me what I should do. When I was there Monday, they got me a Zpack (antibiotic) to take. Ive been sick since Saturday. I have a fever, its been about 99.8-101.9, when I take tylenol. I am coughing like crazy, I cant lay down to sleep,so havent slept hardly at all since saturday, and my whole body aches. I am afraid to go to ER, because they would admit me over a splinter haha On one hand, thats good that they are so thorough, but I really dont want to be in the hospital right now. I am already on the antibiotic, so what else could they do anyway?
Just looking for advice, what would you do?
Also, does anyone know, is it bad for us to take Nyquil?

Not sure about Nyquil, my Neph has told me the only OTC thing I can take is Tylenol. Hope you feel better soon.

Got it Wed, thurs, & Fri myself. I took Theraflu. I felt miserable. Friday my temp got to 102, so I know how you feel. I did not however, have the upper respiratory problems though. Hope I won't either, they say that is wicked stuff.
Ask Neph about Theraflu (OTC). Tamaflu never did anything for me, but it has helped others. It is prescription though!
Im still a little drained, but no fever! Hope you get better!

cold medication is supposed to do something to blood pressure, but I don't remember what exactly.. I've taken it as a sleep aid when a cold makes it hard to sleep.. not saying you should, but you know your own body and how it should react to these things

Tylenol is fine. Mucinex or Mucinex DM or Robitussin or Robitussin DM should be safe for coughs. These medicines don't usually affect blood pressure. Don't get Robitussin PE or CF unless you know how you react to those ingredients. Be careful with Nyquil. It has a lot of ingredients.
Vicks VapoRub is great stuff. It can help you breathe without interacting with anything. Cough drops are fine just space them out.
One of the things I try is I buy children's cold medicine. Then I can try a small dose and see if I have a problem. But a lot of the ones that say stuffy nose/runny nose can mess with your BP. There is a med called Corricidin HBP which is supposed to be safe for people with high BP. I never tried it.
You could always try hot tea or hot soup. I know it's all liquid but I bet you're not eating much or drinking much right now so you probably have some liquid still available for your day.
Go to the hospital if your fever gets really high or you have serious problems breathing. I hope you feel better soon. Try to rest. Even if you don't sleep. Get as comfortable as possible, a dim room, music or quiet as you prefer. Just rest your mind.

the bp...explains why i felt like my heart was going wild for a moment after i took that crap. it didnt last long though. the regular cloricidine is evil stuff, idk if the hbp kind is or not, but ive seen a guy (idiot) take a couple of the reg ones, and he "tripped" from it... halucinations, he was really flushed, sweaty... it scared the crap out of me, so i wont go near that stuff. I normally dont take anything OTC, i dont like taking anything period... but i was desprate
So to add to this weirdness, I woke up a few moments ago, coughing my behind off, as usual. (and a bad leg cramp)
I got up to walk off the cramp, took my inhaler, and sat down and took my temp. It went way down, yet i still feel very achy. Under my eyes is really dark, and now my left side by my ribs hurts like some has kicked me...

The pain in your side could be from all the coughing. I just got over something (cold, flu IDK) and coughing like crazy. I was so sore from the coughing! Hope you feel better soon.
The black eyes could just be from being worn down. I get them when I really need to dialyze.

Goth we have both had it over Xmas. Hubby was in bed Xmas day and me boxing day and days on and off after. A week down the line we are both still ill, can not shake it. it started with a sore throat, this has really been one shit*y Christmas, I took the tree and cards down to day. All we are taking is paracetamol, honey and lemon juice but I suppose it will have its bout out. Take care
