The other day at D, my dr approached me and asked if I was ready to do PD again..............Just to recap what happened the first TWO times, I got an infection (not peritonitis) , a pretty bad one, winding me up in the hospital for over a week both times. The last time, the surgeon told me it was likely that I am allergic to the tubing, so my body is rejecting it, causing the infections. He said he would refuse to do the surgery again. SO, I told the dr this, the other day, and he said, "we can get another surgeon..." Uhm, if I AM allergic to it, wouldnt the outcome be the same the third time around??? Although, they DO say Thirds times a charm, I dont think that applies in this case. As much as I would like to be free of the chair, I dont think I should even entertain the idea. Rather confusing...Also, the doctor I have is part of a group of 3 doctors, all of which I see at some point every month. One of them (not my 'official' doctor) had said I am allergic to the dializer, while my official doctor didnt seem to think that was possible... Confusing.
