It's 8:27am EST on a Saturday. My treatment time is at 11am so I usually don't get up until 9am. One of the nurses at the clinic calls my wife's cellphone at 8am while she is on her way to work, I don't give the clinic my cellphone number, and leaves her a voice mail.  My wife does not get this voice mail until around 8:20am when she gets to work. The voice mail was to inform me that if I did not call them in the next hour they were giving my treatment slot to someone else. Now I get to sit down with the clinic administrator and complain...which will be ignored. I so need to switch clinics and this is the push that I needed.

Me & my precious Miracle !!!

Sorry to hear that!!
Doesn't sound like your clinic is to good with things. At my clinic your chair time is your chair time unless they call to see if you want to come in earlier, but I never have issues like that & I have been doing dialysis for the last 7 yrs.
I hope you can get things worked out! Because its not fair to us on dialysis if there making things more difficult, they should be trying to make things easier on us!!
Hope things work out !!

I really believe that the staffing some clinics do not see us as their customers, and more importantly, people with lives to lead and the staff who run your clinic obviously fall into that category.  I would just flat out remind the administrator of the fact that you are a customer and tell them that you intend looking for another clinic.  I wonder if as dialysis patients we should always have a back-up clinician mind (whenossible and I know that it isn't, hence the reason why they have the ability to wiels so much power) so that we can reclaim some of theower that they have.

Good grief - that's just not right.  Calling to say you can start early if you want is fine.  Canceling a set appointment time - just no.

At that point, I would have cancelled my treatment for today.  When I was in center, there was just ONCE that they were late getting me started.  I raised holy hell as I always moved heaven and earth to leave work on time to get to my center on time or early for my treatments.  I figured that since I could get there on time, the least they could do is make sure that I had a chair ready and waiting.  I can see if there was some major issue with a patient that caused there to be a problem, but do you know the answer that I got when I asked why I was so late getting started?

"Because the state inspectors are here today."

Needless to say, I went OFF on the FA.  I told him that his inspection has nothing to do with me as a paying customer and that if it ever happened again and there wasn't a good reason, I would be out the door in a shot and take my $4500 a week center reimbursement with me.  After that, they made sure to call me if there was ever a situation where the chair wasn't going to be ready on time, which is the least they could do.

I get here on time at 10:55am and my chair won't be ready until 11:45am or noon. Did I tick off the universe today??
