Hey everyone

My skin has been super jacked up ever since I started dialysis. I would get severe acne.. break out after break out. Does anyone else have this problem?

I haven't had severe acne since the age of 14!

I did not have acne. I had lots of dry skin. Are you on prednisone? That gives me a little acne.

dry skin could be causing the issues.  it does with me.  I' m constantly exfoliating and moisturizing to keep my skin clear.  And once a season I get a full facial.  Seems to help.

Hello Jadey,

The longer I've been on Dialysis (8 years) the worse my skin seems to get.  I manage the treatment created acne with Epiduo that was prescribed by a dermatologist.  My skin AND hair are extremely dry, so I use Vaseline Men's Lotion on my face in the morning after a shower and in the evening before I go to bed.  My haircut professional recommended coconut oil for my hair.  You can purchase it at any health food or vitamin store.  It comes in a jar.  You simply can apply it into your hair like gel, or apply it before you go to bed while wearing a shower cap.  I was skeptical, but its actually working really well.

The biggest tip I can give you is never skip a day on your skin or hair.  It takes extra work, but in the end it helps defeat those horrible Dialysis side effects.

I'm not having the acne issues, but I am noticing that my skin is dryer than its ever been before. I'm using lots of skin lotion to help keep it moisturized. Haven't had to do anything prescription yet, and I'm happy about that.
